How do you take bottled breastmilk with you when you go out? We are going out with DS for the first time this weekend.
I am very excited to take DS out for the first time this weekend. DS is 1 month old. YaY to gorgeous weather! We will probably take a stroller walk and eat lunch outdoors - location TBD.
I don't want to breastfeed in public. We have tons of frozen breastmilk. I was just wondering how other mothers carry breastmilk with them.
Do you carry frozen milk in a bag? Do you put the refrigerated milk in a bottle with an ice pack?
I'm thinking of carrying frozen milk with us and then asking for hot water at a restaurant so we can warm the bottle for DS. TIA!

it depends on how long youll need it from when you leave..i personally let it thaw on its own, and then just heat it in a bowl of warm water just a few minutes since i know when it comes from me, its warm. go to kellymom.com im positive they have all of those specifics! Have fun!!

I use the JuJuBe sippy rocket to bring bottled milk with me, it works great.

I usually BF in public, but I have taken bottles of freshly pumped BM in a cooler with an ice pack. My pump (Medela PISA) came with a cooler and ice pack. I also use this cooler and ice pack to store bottles of pumped milk in the refrigerator at work and to bring the bottles home with me after work.
If you bring frozen milk to thaw, it must be used within 24 hours and can't be re-frozen.

i usually just take a bottle out of the fridge and throw it in the diaper bag... by the time i need it, it has been brought up enough to room temp. if i bring more than 1-- i use the cold pack that came with my pump.

Since BM can last a few hours @ room temp, I usually pump right before we leave. I can get 2 feedings out of a pumping session, so that gives me a few hours.
If I need a backup, I take some in a cooler tote with an ice pack..and then ask for hot water if we are out eating.

Ice pack - very simple. If I could BF, I did. If I couldn't, I used the bottle.

I don't BF in public. I always just grab a bottle, throw it in an insulated tote w/ an ice pack, and grab my on-the-go bottle warmer. Works for me. Have fun!!

I just realized that my Medela Freestyle pump came with a cooler too. I'll just take that along with us.
Gosh...we sure will be carrying a lot of things with us for the baby.

I carry a bunch of stuff in a big diaper bag. I always have extra diapers, wipes, pacifiers, a small toy or two, and extra change of clothes, burp cloths, bibs, a changing pad, etc. It gets ridiculous, but for me, it's better to be prepared. You get used to it after a while.
