How do you travel with a baby on the LIRR?

Do you just hold them on your lap or are there certain rules?

When we came to NY for a visit, we took the LIRR in the city. We just held him or he sat between us.

You hold them in your lap. Have bottle, pacifier ready to go. Fold up the stroller if you're bringing one & dont' go during rush hour unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Well, I have no choice then to travel at rush hourChat Icon

I won't even bring the stroller. We are going 1 block away from Penn anyway.

You'll be fine then. THe stroller makes it harder for you & for everyone jammed it the train.

I've done - it's not too bad. Hopefully he'll conk out because of the excitement.

I'm right near Penn if you need a warm/clean place to change him. FM me if you need the info. I leave by 5pm.

Re: How do you travel with a baby on the LIRR?

I am gonna be the opposite and say bring a stroller. It kept Bella contained and I was afraid of her being super squirmy. There was NO way to carry her and her diaper bag.

I would find a handicapped car and sit there. Plus it's easier to maneuver once you get into Penn.

I took Bella in on Thanksgiving Eve. Took a 9 am in and a 3 pm home. 6 pm is THE peak time, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Bella slept the whole way home. The elevators or toward the back of the train...

GOOD LUCK!

I used to bring her on the train in the bjorn or seat her on my lap.

Now that she is older I would prefer to bring her in the stroller if I was traveling in the middle of the day.

Re: How do you travel with a baby on the LIRR?

when I met Barbara for the photoshoot, I had to take the lirr and I brought a stroller.
coming back I folded it and Alia fell asleep on my lap.

I dont understand the.."as a commuter I agree" statement...you would get mad if a baby and a mother sat next to you on the train??

Re: How do you travel with a baby on the LIRR?

I have never done it, but if I had to I'd definately bring the stroller. Emily is too much of a squirmer to sit on my lap!
