How does this look to you?
I've having a few friends for dinner this week. Here is the menu. Does is look okay? Anything you would add or take away ?
Appetizers:
Sqash and apple cider soup Seafood Salad
Dinner: Oven baked herb crusted salmon Roasted Broccoli Roasted Yams Sauteed Asparagus with pine nuts
Dessert: Lemon Meringue Pie.
ETA: I only got into cooking a few months ago and haven't really cooked for anyone but DH and me. So, I definitely need feedback.

As long as everyone eats seafood you should be fine.

Sounds AMAZING! The only thing i might change would be a regular salad vs the seafood. Only cause i'm lazy

Well I agree with this but only because I don't really like the idea of having a seafood salad before you serve seafood as a main course. Also, seafood salad and that soup don't mix in my own opinion. So I would opt for a more "regular" salad, a mixed or tossed salad of some sort. Everything else sounds incredibly delicious and will go well together! Good luck! Take photos and have fun.

Re: How does this look to you?
As long as you know your friends. I for one love most seafood but I wont even touch salmon (cooked).
I would not do a seafood salad. i would do a leafy green salad instead.

To me, it sounds delicious because I love seafood.
I'd say as long as your friends like seafood, you're fine!

Re: How does this look to you?
I would delete either the soup or the seafood salad. It seems like a weird combination to serve. Warm soup doesn't go with the cold, refreshing seafood salad.

Re: How does this look to you?
Sounds good.. but maybe a little cool weather for this time of year? Also fish and fish might be a little much?
MAYBE.. instead of squash and cider soup you could do a more transitional season soup? Like a spring pea soup? Or maybe a light gazpacho? Instead of a seafood salad, maybe a nice hand passed app that people can eat while standing around chatting before sitting for supper? If you are committed to seafood - maybe shrimp cocktail? Shrimp and gazpacho are best friends so it would be a nice match and very light so you aren't weighed down before the main course. You could do the soups as shooters too so it doesn't involve a very long 'sitting period' during service?
For the main course I would consider dropping the broccoli and possibly doing a lighter rice pilaf instead of yams. You are going to have a lot going on in the oven with roasted yams, roasted veg and roasted fish. And if you are using all one oven the flavors CAN kind of mingle a little with a protein as strong as salmon.
And right now.. you have me CRAVING lemon meringue pie.
But..even if you don't change a darned thing I'd be happy eating the meal you proposed!

I agree with this. Sounds delicous, but a little wintery. I LOVE shrimp coctail & spring pea soup is really easy to make. I don't have a recipe easly available, but we use frozen peas & vegetable stock.

I agree it sounds great, but it envokes a fall dinner to me, but I have crazy seasonal OCD so it could just be me
I don't know what the weather is like there, but have you considered grilling? Maybe a nice salad with tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, cauliflower, peppers and broccoli to start. You could do grilled crab legs and shrimp also served with a cocktail sauce as an app as well. Grilled salmon with grilled veggies. Veggies can be anything. Asaragus, zuchinni, squash, corn...it's all amazing tossed with some olive oil salt and pepper. That pie sounds amazing and now I must make one
