How does your bus route run?
It was my impression that the route is run the same way to and from school so that the first child on in the morning is the first off in the afternoon. That way, it is sort of "fair" in regards to the amount of time each child spends on the bus.
The bus company changed my DD's bus last week (the first bus was too crowded apparently). I am actually thrilled b/c the driver on the other bus was a miserable old man who never greeted the kids, smiled or anything friendly. The new guy is wonderful!! BUT, I just found out that she (and my niece) are the first kids picked up in the morning and the last dropped off in the afternoon. I asked why, and the driver said he doesn't know, but that is what he was told to do. He said because they live on the west side of Nicolls Rd. he was told to do it this way. I just don't think it is fair that they have to spend that much time on the bus every day.
What do you think? How does it work for your child? WWYD?
DD is in Kindergarten, if that matters.

Re: How does your bus route run?
I am not sure about other buses in the area, but my DD bus takes the same route in the morning and the afternoon, so the first ones picked up are the first ones off the bus in the afternoon
You can always call the bus company and discuss it with them

Re: How does your bus route run?
My kids had a different route last year. Less kids. They were the first picked up in the morning, and yes, they ran the route in reverse on the way home and they were the last dropped off.
This year, they combined two routes, so they are not the first picked up anymore, but in the middle of the route. It's the same, the route is revered so the first picked up in the morning are the last dropped off after school.

Re: How does your bus route run?
We live very close to the school, and dd is the last picked up in the morning and first dropped off in the afternoon. So she is only on the bus for a few minutes each way. I get what you mean about being fair, but the other way DD was on the bus for almost an hour on the way home, and we live 2 minutes from the school. The kids that live far have to be on the bus awhile anyway, and I guess dropping dd off first adds maybe 5 min to the ride.

Re: How does your bus route run?
Our block is the last one on the route, in the morning and afternoon. So the bus is near full when they pick her up and almost empty when they drop her off.

Re: How does your bus route run?
We are third to last stop in morning and afternoon, so not much time in the morning and a LONG ride in the afternoon

Re: How does your bus route run?
We live 2 blocks from the school and DS is the last pick up (thought he would be the first) and also the last drop off. I guess my district isn't like others that do the reverse.

DS is the last one picked up and the first one dropped off. I think it is because we live "closest" to the school in our area.

Re: How does your bus route run?
Mu son is the last picked up and the first dropped off. We live closest to the school so this just is the way it works. While I COMPLETELY understand your frustration, it doesn't make much sense for the bus to pass our house just to reverse the route...
