Re: How does your K teacher handle wrong answers on paper?

Big red marker. I must be the harsh one! I tell my DS to get it right so we don't have to look at red marks on his work. He tries his best and that's important to me. Confidence comes from trying hard and doing the best you can

I taught Kindergarten and I always used markers and pens to grade my papers. Never used the color red though. Green was my go to color. Even if there were mistakes on the page, every paper got a star, smiley face or stamp. I am sure if things were marked in pencil the children would still be disappointed that they got something wrong.

I think I saw all sorts of colors including red. It didn't have any bother to DS. I think even if there were some mistakes she always put a star on top or smile face.

In kindergarten the teacher used a red marker, in first grade the teacher uses a blue or black pen. But no matter if DS got a 80 or a 100 he still gets a Chat Icon or a hand drawn star.

Thank you. I agree. I wasn't concerned until another parent made me question if this was the norm. Its fine with me if it's standard practice. Teacher always does put a smiley face or star, yes.
