How exactly do you pick a caterer? 1st bday is only 8 days away
So of course i'm scrambling at the last minute since i have no time during the day.
I need to pick a caterer for my DS' 1st bday next week. I have an idea of the menu but how do i pick who? Is it by price only? I've never had to hire a caterer before.
ETA: don't know if this helps answer the question but I'm interested in getting trays of food. Maybe some appetizers too. - I live in south shore nassau and these are some i'm considering Iavarone and Fireside. Anyone else I should add to the list?

Most places have a menu you can choose from. The place we use to go to did packages by how many people you had. Some places charge by the person...

My favorite is Guy Anthony's in Merrick .. I've used them for tons of parties (DD's christening, 1st birthday, my DS's christening, etc.)
They'll make whatever you want.. you don't need to stick w/ their menu. Trays are more affordable than the per-person options.. that's what I always do.

I got Smokin Al's for DS's first birthday. I wanted something a little different since we always do heros and the usual hot foods. We got sliced brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and side dishes. Everyone loved it!

Ivaronne ROCKS! They are the only ones I use for my parties. Also, IMO, you should consider a waitress, if you can afford it. Makes life MUCH easier!

Busco's in Oceanside! Everyone in my family stop by there when they come to visit me. They had a shop in the Bronx where I grew up so we've been using them since my communion
