I was really bad with DD and we didn't plan her first birthday until about a month and a half before.

Re: How far in advance did you plan DC's 1st birthday party?

My DD's is in April as well and I just started to plan a little bit. I ordered all the decorations and party supplies yesterday.

I thought it was a little soon, but I found what I wanted online so I figured there was no reason to wait to place the order.

Re: How far in advance did you plan DC's 1st birthday party?

Probably about 3 months or so.

DH and I came up with the theme of "construction"
DH is a contractor so that made it easy
figured out the list and came up with the favors
once we did that we started going to the Party Store, Cedarhurst and on-line. LIF was a huge help too! AngRich did our invites Chat Icon Chat Icon
She also gave me some decorations she used for her DS party

started packing things in the guest room and putting the favors together (shovel and pail filled with stuff). My MIL does artsy stuff so she did all the names on the kid's pails.
Ordered a lot online as well
My parents took care of the entertainment
I got the price to rent table and chairs.
we also used Wegmans for almost everything... catering, balloons and cake
had the party at my parent's so we came the night b4 and started decorating
wasn't too bad and all worth it. Pics are in my album

Re: How far in advance did you plan DC's 1st birthday party?

I think I looked at venues 4m in advance and booked 3m in advance. I ordered invites 2m in advance and did everything else in the last month or so.

Re: How far in advance did you plan DC's 1st birthday party?

thanks girls!

i really wanted to do it at our house. but april is a tough month with the weather.

so we are back and forth with a restaurant or the house.

now that i think of it, not many kids at all so maybe a candy table is not such a great idea.

we will definitely be doing a party on a budget! Chat Icon

EVERYTHING you said here is how I feel!

and picking a day, bc Easter is darn late this year and DH is an accountant and I don't know if I should wait until tax season is over!

Same! Chat Icon

I picked the theme like 2 months ago and looked online for decorations, but haven't done anything at all about it.

We'll be doing it at a community center (same place they did my baby shower). If I could have it at home, I TOTALLY would, but I live in an apartment, not enough room.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing a sweets table, just have to get that coordinated in my head and actually accomplished.

We won't be having many kids and it will be small too - probably 30-40 people. Hey, adults like sweets too! Chat Icon

Re: How far in advance did you plan DC's 1st birthday party?

DD's is April 2nd..and I've been planning in my head since about September/October Chat Icon
We have a theme and I already picked up most of the stuff for the kids goodie bags at the target dollar spot, since it matched my theme (Snoopy)
I THINK we're having it the Moose Lodge (like a KoC) OR my basement- have to call and see if they are available
Def doing a sweets table- we always do
I'm going to start ordering decorations soon

I'm trying to keep it to 50ppl or less and do it a bit old school- like a simplish party that we had when I was young. Nothing too crazy, but still fun.
