I can tell you with my first, they kept putting it off - having me come in every few days to check my fluid levels. It was very frustrating because every time I had an appointment I would think to myself "This is it - she's going to induce me tomorrow" and that was never the case.

I was finally induced 11 days past my due date - he was born on the 12th day!

Re: how far past your EDD will your Dr go before induction?

I went 4 days past my EDD with DS before I went into labor on my own. (delivered 5 days past EDD)

My OB told me they would let me go at least 1 week past my EDD as long as everything was OK with me and the baby. I never got to a week so I'm not sure how much longer they would have let me go.

I will tell you that on my EDD, I had NOTHING! No dilation, not effaced. NADA! It is very possible to go from nothing to labor in the blink of an eye! Hang in there! Chat Icon
