How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
What's your speed? And how long do you run for?
Curious...

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I do sprints for between 20-30 minutes. I will jog for 5 minutes at 6.5-7mph and then sprint at about 9 mph. I am only 5 ft tall so i have little legs and that's pretty fast for me! lol

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I run from 7.0-8.0 mph, which translates into a 8.5-7.5 min miles.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
Ok, so I ran on the treadmill for the first time yesterday and maintained about 6.5mph and my total distance was 2.5miles. Though, I am still interval training, in week 4 of running mate, jogging for 4 minutes, brisk walk for 1 minute.
I'm trying to figure out what a good speed is for endurance, and what my goal should be to work towards, now that I'm running on the treadmill instead of outside...

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
My pace varies alot based on the purpose of my run (distance, speedwork, etc..), how I feel, and the length.
I always warm up for a mile at an easy 6.2-6.4 pace.
After that my speed is anywhere from 6.7-8.7. The longer the run, usually, the slower I'll run (for example an 8 mile run will be closer to 6.7).
Right now, my speed has been changing ALOT. When I first started running I was a 6.0 (maybe 6.2 if I pushed it). Now a 7.0 is a comfortable pace for me, so I'm working on pushing myself to run faster because I know now my body can handle it.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I warm up & cool down on 6.0. Then I run anywhere between 6.3-8.0 (I change my speed frequently throughout the run). I might do a few sprints on 8.5 (I can only maintain that speed for about 30 seconds)

wow, I am slow compared to you olympic women. I run at a 5.8 pace and I am very proud! I worked so hard to work up to that pace. I hope one day to join the ranks of you ladies!!! I am inspired!

You should be proud of yourself! Not many people can even run- and you can!! You'll get there one day- It took me a few months but I went from a 6.0 being difficult to now its practically walking for me! You already got up to 5.8 and that alone is a great accomplishment. Your speed will increase the more you run!

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I usually run at about 6.0-6.3. Its definitely on the slow side, but I have been running for more than half of my life, and have come to terms with the fact that I am a 10 minute miler . Occasionally, I'll sprint for a minute, which for me is 7.0.
On the treadmill, I usually run for 30 minutes because that's how long DD naps, and I just don't enjoy treadmill running so I usually don't do it for an extended period of time.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
It varies, but usually between 7-8 mph. I do most of my running on the treadmill and most days i only have 30-45 minutes around kids schedules to run. But i am trying for once a week to run long, I ran 1 hour and 2 minutes on xmas eve.

That's great! I wouldn't stress over the speed or compare it to others. Right now, a 7.0 might seem way too fast for you, but I bet after you continue to run longer, it will seem easy to you. Once you get comfortable, you can gradually start increasing the speed, even if you only maintain it for 20-30 seconds.
I always felt that working on endurance first, then speed.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I have to agree with AP. Don't focus on speed. There are so many reasons why running slow is OK and good for your training.
My easy, interval and tempo paces are going to be different from others.
See what you can do now and use that as a baseline for your own improvement.
Also, most TM are not calibrated correctly.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I'm a slow runner (but I'm also short, so I blame my stride for not being long enough ). I run for about a half an hour, anywhere between 5.5 - 6 depending on how fast the song is on my ipod.

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
Well when I was running it was between 6.5-7.0 for 30-45 min. I can't wait to get back into it again!
It really depended on how far I was running though. Shorter distances I would run faster.

same here! i would love to run faster, but right now i'm clocking a 10.5 min mile, which is like 5.5-6.0 speed on the treadmill and i have to WORK to maintain that! haha. i'm not a natural runner by any means, but hey, running is running and no matter how you do it, you're still rocking it!

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I warm up at 6.1 for about 5 minutes and then it depends on how long I am on treadmill for. If it's a short run like 3-4 miles then I usually run at 6.8 - 7.2

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
I like a 6.0 pace, esp if I am going longer than 2 miles. SOmetimes I do 6.3 or so.
Outdoors I tend to run faster, esp in the beginning of my long runs and I avg. a 9:15-9:30 pace!

Re: How fast do you jog/run on the treadmill?
If anyone else gets bored on the treadmill (like I do) you could also try doing "ladders"...I think for me, it sometimes helps the time goes faster. I just pick a speed to be the bottom of the ladder, and a speed to be the top, and then I work my way up and down. For ex. in 30 minutes, I might do this:
5 mins at 6.0 (warm up) 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 6.5, 6.4, 6.3, 6.2, 6.1 for a minute each. Repeat 5 mins at 6.0 (cool down)
Or sometimes, I do a longer ladder, going from 6.1-7.0, and just do it once.
Obviously, you can adjust your top and bottom speeds higher or lower, but sometimes it just makes it seems less boring IMO. HTH someone
ETA: This helps me run faster than I normally would too.
