How important is it to make sure a painter is licensed/insured?
We got some quotes last night and the guy who came in lowest didnt give us his license information but says he's fully licensed and insured. Is it important to get this info? Would you hire someone who wasnt? How can I check online if this person is legit?

I would. Painting requires ladders. God forbid someone falls and gets hurt in your house. Not worth the risk IMO.

It is very important, NEVER go with someone who is not licensed and insured!!!!!! for any job big or small- you cant go after them, if they fall or get hurt on the job then what? what if the job starts to peel your walls bubble? who do you go after to fix?
its a personal decision and believe me there are licensed and insured companies that would be as low too, you just need to keep looking. better to be safe than sorry.
