How is Carle Place?

Is anyone familiar with Carle Place as a neighborhood?

I hear the School district is good.

Re: How is Carle Place?

it's small - cute but can be busy with all the shopping and traffic from Old Country Rd. It's a GREAT location though - near shopping, malls, highways.

I'd just want to be sure I was far enough away from the shopping centers in the area. it has a good train line too.

The school district is very good, My friends live there and I take the train from there. I wish I could have afforded a house there because I really like the neighborhood.

Ive heard the SD is good. There are also some houses in Mineola that you can get for a good deal and they are part of the Carle Place SD rather than Mineola SD.

i love it. my DH spent his whole life here- the schools are great- small, but very good (not sure what average class size is for the island since i come from Brooklyn, but most of the graduating classes from the HS are around 100 students). the town is very small- maybe like 1 square mile Chat Icon but the taxes are fairly low (comparatively) b/c of all the industry in the area- Everything is nearby.. Everything! Glen cove rd and Old country road can get very busy, But, i never see any of that spill over to the side streets, so i dont think it really affects it all that much. North of Westbury Ave is definitely more desireable IMO-- more land, better maintained and larger houses (south of the traintracks is mostly those bungalow type houses, many which were added on to, but still).

i live in westbury now, but carle place sd. the taxes are high in my opinion my parents pay over 8k and i think majority is the school district. it's cute here but i'm ready to move out east, i guess cause i lived here all my life. i like having a huge backyard and less traffic.

Re: How is Carle Place?

Carle Place itself is one square mile.
Carle Place Shool district encompasses Carle Place and a little part of Westbury(which I live in ) , and Mineola....

The School District: Second smallest in state. Average graduating class used to be 95-100 students.I think since I graduated 5 years ago, its gone up to 110Chat Icon Chat Icon . Classes are anywhere from 15-25 kids per room. Many teachers are usually people that grew up and even went to CP schools....No on ever moves awayChat Icon Chat Icon Many clubs. Many sports. k-2nd grade is one builing. 3-6 is another. and 7-12 is the hgh scool with 7-8 grade on one small ised of the wing. All three buildings are next to each other and share the acres.

Area- Awesome. You have Old Country Road right theres which inludes Roosevelt Field Mall, the Source mall, and all those other stores. Theres also Glem Cove Road...
Congestion NEVER goes into the town.
You have Carle place train station. And if you need one with a more variety of times, Westbury and Mineola are within 1-2 miles on each side and each are major hubs.

Carle Place itself has some elder houses with small property. I live on the north side in Westbury and the taxes for my parents house is I believe 10k.But I have a large yard for Nassau.

downside- many people know each other for decades so it can be hard to move in and adjust. No one ever seems to move away. Many parents pass they houses down to kids.

I grew up next door to CP in Westbury (East Meadow schools) and never realized it was such a small town.

that's true we make fun by saying it's only two blocks long, and if you sneeze you will drive right through it and not have even known.

i dont get my nails done regularly, but i can tell you NOT to go to Post nails. my mom, sister and I went there 2 days before my wedding to get our nails done, and ended up having to go back the next day to get them touched up- ALL of us. they werent very impressive.

BUT .. i always get myeyebrows done there. love them for that Chat Icon

is post nails the one near the pkwy? if so i remember when they first opened up years ago i heard of someone catching an infection from there by getting their nails done not sure how true it was, i guess it can happen anywhere?

I live in Carle Place too! I love it :)

My taxes are reasonable for Nassau Cty-- maybe $7500? And everything is so convenient. We can even walk to the LIRR station, and the elementary school is walking distance so I can walk my son there when he's older.

I agree that it's hard to "fit in" here if you didn't live here all your life. I'm originally from Queens and I feel like DH and I are outsiders. I'd love to get to know people in the area, especially now that I have a baby.

And I REALLY want to know a good place to get my nails done. I mean there's Maximus but I can't afford that for regular mani/pedis! :)

Re: How is Carle Place?

I get my nails done at the nail place in the shopping center by baci and laguna grill - cant think of the name - or at unique nail which is on post avenue across from the cemetery.
