I think both the grammar schools are fine (Centre and Rhame). I believe they both have blue ribbon school status.
The HS is eh... Very small. I grew up in that town and my parents sent all of us to private school.

I agree with the pp- the elementary schools are very good. Idk if Rhame has blue ribbon status but Centre Ave just got it last year. My cousin teaches at the HS...its really not that great. Its very small and i know that they have some drug problems in the school to contend with but other than that, I don't know that the education is really that great.
IMHO- I would plan on sending kids to private HS
It might help you to know that both sides of my family grew up in East Rockaway and much of my family is still active in the community. I went to St. Raymonds there. ER is a great little town but has definitely some drawbacks.

my niece and nephew graduated from erhs a couple of years ago. the graduation rate i heard wasn't that great and not many that did graduate go to college. dh went there, but his parents sent him to private hs. dh and i live in the district but don't have children.

Yes with ERock pretty much everyone who's been there for a while is related to each other somehow
