How is the Gestational Diabeties test done at your office?
In this office they tell me not to eat 1 hour b4 taking the glucose, then 1 hour after i take the glucose they take the blood.
In my last pregnancy, you had to come to the office having eaten nothing since the night b4- then take the glucose and then take the blood 1h later
It is stupid if they let you eat 1 hour b4 drinking the drink, if you eat anything with carbs in it , then there is impact on blood sugar.
So, how does your office do it?

I was told today I'm going to have the test in a few weeks, and they said to fast the hour before, and anytime before that, it would probably be a good idea to not have carbs, OJ...but instead maybe a scrambled egg
I plan on going first thing in the morning so I will have easily fasted for that one hour

the one hour test it doesn't matter if you fast before the test. They just want to see how your body digests the drink an hour after you drink it. My dr just recommended staying away from starchy and sugary foods before taking the 1 hr test.

fasting doesn't change anything. my midwife said to eat (i actually ate on the way there - pb&j sandwich) but to just avoid really sugary things like jelly donuts, etc. if you have it, you have it.

This is what I was told by my office as well. I didn't fast at all. Just went about my day as usual.

but if you eat carbs 4 hours before for example, there will be a residual effect on your blood sugar so it would not be a truly accurate result of just the glucose
