How is your office furniture organized

We have this piece of furniture (of course I can't get the inside to post)

In here with have our computer monitor - and the harddrive. A fax machine. A printer. The cordless base. Speakers. Bin for bills.

I feel like it's completely crammed that I can't even work on it anymore.

I just ordered a bill organizer in hopes that it will get me a little bit more organized. Does anyone else have any organizational tips?

try and post pics

i have a drop leaf desk (73" in length with leaves extended) but desktop is still a little cramped with the monitor, keyboard, mouse, 2 lamps, cordless phone base and modem. i am going to order additional furniture for the room soon and reorganize. my biggest issue is dealing with how to disguise all the wires.

IMO, it looks more cluttered than it should. although it is nice to display pics, it makes the area seem too busy. i would remove the pics. to allow even more room, why not get a small table or 2 low bookcases to place on either side of the armoire. use to display the pics, place stereo, phone, books and printer. place speakers on top of armoire.

i think your room looks more cluttered because it appears to be a dual purpose room (play and office). can you move the toys elsewhere and designate as an office only room? or move toys to another corner of the room? room needs clearly defined spaces for use. KWIM?

The left side of the room is all toys only. It really is a functioning office/playroom because I work from home - so I get to do work while watching my little one.

Everything to the left of the desk - is the dogs toys in those bins. She doesn't even play with half of them. I know I just need to do a clean sweep. You're right - get rid of the pictures and the crapola that I don't need. The books are all thrown in there. Crapola on top that I just don't have a place for in my house. I need to de-clutter.

I keep folders of things to help sort.

I have a folder of " Bills to pay now"
One for " Future bills"
Then folders of "web things ( things I want to look up, etc" ...One for coupons and anything else specific to us.

And I have a Holder for all things like pens, Sticky notes, Staples, rubber bands, envelopes etc , all in once place.

All computer related stuff is also in its one seperate "storage"box"

I just bought file boxes, folders, and I am going to tackle this project the first rainy weekend day I get

I can't wait- I almost want to take the day off from work to do it!

I have that bill organizer, its great. I keep our checkbook and stamps in the small drawers underneath.

I would def. get some more tables, or nice filing cabinets and clean out the photos...that'll probably help a lot!

You need to declutter first.

I would get a 2 drawer file cabinet (double the length of the one you have). Get a wood tone that matches the comuter armoire you have. Use that file cabinet to put your printer and fax machine on top. 1 drawer for files, 1 drawer for supplies.

Something like that (that one has 4 drawers).



But you can find MANY styles (console, queen Ann, etc..)

Since our house is small, we have our "office" is in the living room. It's the 1st thing you see when you walk in, so I wanted to keep it neat. We bought an amoire and a file cabinet. I keep the bills piled in date order. Once they are paid they go right into the file cabinet.

Granted we don't have the toys, so I can't help you there. But I would think about a small file cabinet to keep the papers orgainzed.

ETS: As for the chair, I bought a fold up one that is tucked behind the file cabinet when we aren't using it.

Thanks everyone and keep the suggestions coming.

We had a wood filing cabinet like the one you posted Sophie and my DH broke it when he opened the drawer.

If I could get rid of the dogs crap then I could put the printer on top of the small filing cabinet I have. Maybe I will move it down to the basement - or just throw it all out since she never plays with any of that stuff anyway.

This is going to be my project for the weekend. Can't wait!

We have a seperate office space and a desk in the living room with the computer. I keep the top of the desk clear with just fake flowers and the telephone. Everything else, staplers, post its etc are hidden away in drawers. I also have a plastic drawer bin for the bills, papers etc that tucks under the desk. I do not like to leave anything out in the open because it just looks cluttered so the best thing to do would be to just hide everything in drawers You might also get rid of some dog toys and use the bin next to you for papers, bills etc.

I would really just de-clutter, including some of Jack's toys. Luka went in their so I saw the room and I didn't think it was to bad. You just need to organize and and declutter.
What about if you move the desk to the wall where the toys are and I think you have a closet on the same side as the door to the room and use the closet as kind of your are for storage and maybe putting the filing cabinet in their? Maybe put some shelves up to organize his toys too.

You could use storage boxes for your supplies so it's neat.

Those are just different styles. You don't have to have "plastic".
