how late in the game would you travel?

for women who are further along (or anyone who has an opinion) how late in your pregnancy would you feel comfortable travelling internationally?

I go on this yoga retreat every year that I can that is in November (I am due early March) and am trying to figure out if I should sign up or not. I've been to the place before and know that everything is clean/organic/good water so I'm not worried about that but am just wondering if it's a good idea to be so far from home if I need anything.

I know I'll probably end up making the decision closer to then (and will ask my doctor of course) but if I want to do it, I have to put in my vacation request now. .. so BTDT moms. . would you do this about 5 1/2 months in?

Honestly, I probably wouldn't. We just went to Florida when I was 20wks and I was exhausted and miserable most of the time (I am having twins, though, so it probably felt like further along than that).
Also, just in case something happened, I would be afraid to be so far from home.

But, see what everyone else says...I am a little paranoid! Chat Icon

I have pretty much stopped going too far away from home around 36 weeks. By too far away from home I mean more than an hour away.

At 5 1/2 months I probably would go. But I have been very lucky and had an amazing pregnancy.

Thanks for your opinion! It's funny but I've never been paranoid at all before but find myself very anxious about everything. . I'm hoping it's just bc I'm still very early and it will wear off but who knows!

But gosh -I bet everything is harder with twins! I give you a lot of credit. .

I feel like 5 1/2 months isn't that far along and you'll be ok.

Of course I'm only 3 1/2 (almost 4) months along, so I don't know. But I'm planning to go to the beach around then with some friends and I'm not worried about it.

Definitely ask the doc and whatever he says just go with. Chat Icon

The only thing is not wanting to be too far from home if you have any complications. But between now and then, you should have a much better picture of how your pregnancy is going and can make a more informed decision.

I think at 5 1/2 months you will be totally fine -- and not too big that you will be uncomfortable. I would sign up!Chat Icon

Re: how late in the game would you travel?

I am due in early March and right now looking to plan a out of the country vacation for the end of October/early November. I see no issues unless you find out later in the pregnancy - god forbid - you have some complications to prevent you from going. I went away a bunch in both my previous pregnanies - air travel and road trips. I find that 20-30 week time to be most comfortable. I need to get past my m/s periods to feel more normal. Personally, I would stop travelling after maybe 33-34 weeks since I went early both pregnancies. The last pregnancy I went on a 3 hour road trip in week 33/34 and my dr had no issue - but did make me come in right before to make sure nothing major was going on before I left being I went a little early the 1st pregnancy.

I traveled when I was 20 weeks and again when I was 23 weeks pregnant and for me it was fine, so I would say do it!

We have a wedding 3.5 hours away when I will be 37 weeks pregnant and that I am saying no to!

I'm 6 months tomorrow and if it were me, I would do it- as long as I knew that there would be a hospital nearby.... I would not do it though if it meant leaving the US

Re: how late in the game would you travel?

I am almost 6 months now and totally feel comfortable traveling. I'm also going to Florida for a week at 28w and I had a friend who went to Mexico at 8 months so I say it's probably fine!
