How long...

is long enough for a vacation?

How long is long enough to see the sights without getting travel burn out?

How long is too long to be away from home?

I was talking about it with a friend who says after about 4 days, she's ready to go home. Chat Icon

DH's limit is about 10 days.

Long enough... since it takes me about 3 days to realize I am on vacation about 10 days is my typical vacation.

The longer the better to avoid burnout.

Away from home - never enough... I could stay on vacation forever if it were paid for and it were someplace I loved.

Re: How long...

I think about a week to 12 days depending on where you are going.

Our honeymoon was 12 days and on the last day, we didn't really do much. We we're kinda sick of excursions and sight seeing. So we were ready to go home at that point.

Re: How long...

Our honeymoon was 11 nights and that was just about it. We were ready to go home at that point. I think it depends on the type of vacation. I could probably do a 2 week trip to Europe and Asia and not be ready to come home because I would have never "rested" but a Caribbean resort vacation, I would only need about 5 nights.

Depends on the vacation...for me hanging out on the beach sipping drinks gets old after 4 days.

But a vacation with lots of sightseeing and adventure is good for at least 10-14 days.

When we were in South America over the summer we met a couple who was vacationing for 10 weeks...no way could I do that! Chat Icon

Re: How long...

I think it completely depends on the vacation. Dh and I spent 2 weeks in Mexico for our HM (1 week in Acapulco and 1 week in Puerto Vallarta) We pretty much did nothing but relax and I could have probably stayed longer. Chat Icon But in general, for a beach vacation I would say 5-7 days. If it's a touring vacation, like Europe or Hawaii, I would say 10-14 days. Now that we're travelling with DS, I think a week is long enough to be away from home.

Depends of the type of vacation, for me, too. 4 days of relaxing by the beach/pool is enough.

But I could travel forever, if it weren't for money and my cats, who I'd miss terribly.

Re: How long...

i think it has a lot to do w/where you go. the average vaca these days is 4 nights, according to a recent study i read.

DH and I went to Hawaii for our HM for 9 nights and could've stayed longer. but on the flip side, we're going to the poconos for 2 nights for xmas and for that trip, i think it'll be enough.

Re: How long...

Never long enough Chat Icon

A month of full on travelling is my limit. I went backpacking for six weeks around Europe and after a month I got sick of seeing churches and museums. My friend and I chose to get drunk for the last two weeks and we had some good cities to do it in- Amsterdam Chat Icon , Berlin, Belgium and London.

I love travelling and I try to get the most out of it so I don't get tired of it when I am travelling.

This is only travelling for me, living abroad is a different story.

6 days! By that time I am ready to go home. Just went to Europe for 15 days and I thought it was way to long to be on Vacation.

Re: How long...

I think it really depends.

We just came back from 7 days at Disney and I was really ready to come home. I was really tired and burned out from walking 10+ miles a day and from eating theme park junk food.

ETA: We didn't nearly see everything. In fact we missed out on a few "must sees" but we got to do most of the holiday related things we wanted to do and we rode Expedition Everest and Rock N Rollercoaster 6+ times a piece. I think that counts as a good vacation Chat Icon

Re: How long...

It depends on how long it takes to get there, any travel while you are there, and what activities you have planned. I have done everything from 4 hectic days in Disney, a week in Puerto Vallarta, 2 weeks in the South Pacific and over a month in Europe, and I am never ready to come home! I love to travel!!
