how long can your 4-6 month old stay awake for during the day?
DS can not go more than 2 hours without getting cranky and needing a nap. He will sometimes stay awake for 3 hours, but it's an ugly scene.

2 hrs is exactly how long DS stays awake and then i wind things down for him otherwise he gets over tired and cant settle down.
Most of what i read says they shouldnt have longer than 2 hrs of wake time

DS goes about 2 hours and then it's nap time. He's 6.5 months old.
ETA: before he goes to bed for the night he is usually up for 3 hours.

DD is 3.5 months... The child is up ALL DAY! If she naps it's like 20 minutes. She is really content, not cranky. I dunno she hates to sleep. lol

At that age, i think it was only an hour and a half to hour and 45 minutes. He could never last long. Not even now at 21 months.

ok good i'm glad to hear that I'm not alone here! For some reason I thought that he should be awake for longer streches by now, but it seems that I was wrong.

2 - 2.5 hours. It's AWFUL if she goes longer than that - soooo cranky.

Re: how long can your 4-6 month old stay awake for during the day?
DS will go 2-3 hours at a time. by like 2 1/2 i can tell he gets cranky and tired. his problem is that he doesnt nap well. Sometimes is 30 min, sometimes less; lately i've been getting a little more out of him at a stretch; and he's been going to sleep earlier.

Re: how long can your 4-6 month old stay awake for during the day?
Sounds normal. My DS (5.5 months)needs a nap after 2 hours even though sometimes he fights it. Yesterday he went 4 hours and my mom (who watches him) told me it was a nightmare. He cried for 1 hour bc he was so tired but couldn't sleep. She was worried something was wrong with him.

even at a year old, DD is only up for 3 - 3 &1/2 hrs between her naps....sometimes 4, but that is pushing it!
