How long did you wait between freeze-all cycles?
I'm currently in the middle of a freeze-all IVF cycle and am considering doing another freeze-all cycle before sending my embryos out for PGD testing.
If you were/are in a similar situation, how long did you wait?
My RE wants me to wait a cycle in between, which is fine, but wondering if some opt to wait even longer and if there are any benefits to waiting. Research on this seems mixed.
This has been a really long process for me and I'm anxious to just get to the point of transfer already, but obv I want to do what's best.

When we froze all I got my period and started the FET process right away. I didn't get pregnant, but that was for unrelated reasons.

Re: How long did you wait between freeze-all cycles?
I did three cycles of freeze all, PGD etc. I waited a cycle with the advice of my RE. Because of work though I waited longer between the other two cycles, and I think I had a chemical before a cycle as well.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mind telling me how many embies you had before testing and what your result was? I'm trying to decide what my magic number is before sending out. Basically, if I will do another cycle after this one before testing.
I previously did PGD testing after one cycle (my first cycle), I had 7 embies, 2 survived to day 5 for testing and 1 came back normal and unfortunately resulted in a chemical. I'd like to stack the deck a little better this time.

Hope it's ok I respond even though this wasn't directed toward me. In a perfectly normal healthy 21 yr old egg donor, HALF of the eggs are expected to be normal. So, figure that's a best case scenario and deduct points for age or whatever other issue you may be dealing with that could impact genetically normal embryos. For one of my cycles, we tested 8 embryos and 4 came back normal, so I fell right in that 50% category. For a cycle after that, we tested 8 and 3 came back normal. Hope that helps.

Re: How long did you wait between freeze-all cycles?
I did 3 freeze all cycles. I waited a good amount of time between them, for funds and just because it is draining on me. For us, a bit more than 50% of the embryos were abnormal upon PGD testing.

Hi Pennycat, I appreciate you weighing in. I'm 40 so my numbers for a normal embryo are more like 3 out of 10. Eeek! What's scarier to me though is how few embryos tend to survive from day 3 to day 5 for testing. So even if I have 10 embryos frozen, I might only have 2 or 3 when it comes to day 5 testing day. Because of this I'm thinking of doing another freeze all cycle prior to testing. These decisions are tough.

Re: How long did you wait between freeze-all cycles?
When CCRM showed me their PGD data, women 33 and under (including all donor cycles) averaged about 2/3 euploid blastocysts. Women 34-38 averaged about half normal. Women 39-42 averaged about 1/3 normal.
I have tested a total of 10 blasts between ages 34-37 and 7 of them have been normal. I make far fewer blasts per cycle than a normal women my age, but most of the ones that grow to that stage seem to test normal.
HTH!

Re: How long did you wait between freeze-all cycles?
I'm may be older than you which factors in a great deal. I believe I was around 39-40 when I started banking.
October 2013 estrogen, 150 Menopur, 300 Gonal. 7 retrieved, 4 mature and fertilized.
January 2015 - estrogen, 150 Menopur, 300 Gonal. 11 retrieved, 6 mature, 4 fertilized.
March 2015 - 150 Menopur, 300 Gonal, 5 retrieved, 4 fertilized.
March 25, 2013 - out of the 12 frozen embies Only 5 made it blast.
5 embryos sent out for aCGH/PGD two came back as normal.
The transfer resulted in a MC, the second did not take. I'm not sure why, it could've been anything. I can't stress to you the importance of the lab you use. I wished I had gone to RMA-NJ.
