How long did you wait to tell?

I am only 4 weeks pregnant...I told my mom not to tell anyone yet. She told me I never told her that and she told my aunt. When my DH heard this he decided to tell his brother and his friends. I feel like I should tell my friends also. Although, I feel so anxious that people know. It is just so early. I read an alarming fact that 50% of 1st pregnancies end in miscarriage- is this true? I have to stop reading things-knowledge is making me crazy.

Re: How long did you wait to tell?

Reading things on the internet has made me officially insane. But I don't think 50% is the right number, I think it's more like 20%. Anyway, I know a lot of people tell everyone right after they get their BFP.

I didn't tell even my parents for 7 weeks because I just knew they couldn't keep a secret. Then I found out that my DH had told someone, who told someone...you just can't win! I'm 9 weeks now and still haven't told my friends because I am paranoid. My next pregnancy I am not even telling my DH for 12 weeks!

Re: How long did you wait to tell?

We told our parents, my brother and my DH's best friend (like a brother to us) after the doctor confirmed my levels were doubling (I guess that was at 4 weeks.) We asked people not to tell any other friends or family until the end of the 1st trimester. I'm high risk and I don't want to have to un-tell people G-d forbid I miscarry.

Re: How long did you wait to tell?

I didn't find out till very late - I was already done with the first trimester.

Had I known earlier, I probably would have started telling around 12 weeks.

We told everyone right away. My feeling was if something did happen early on at least I would have a big support group to get us through it.

i felt the same. News spread like wildfire though. I kind of felt we had to come out with the news since I live with my parents and we are leaving in a month and a half. I wanted them to enjoy living with me through this and not telling them from another state.

Re: How long did you wait to tell?

I told EVERYONE right away!

Mainly because it was such a surprise, and I wa in total shock!

Next time- Ill prob tell our parents, and close friends right away- but co workers and distant relatives, Ill wait on...

If anything happened I def. would want the support from my mom, and close friends!

Re: How long did you wait to tell?

We told our parents right away- about 5 weeks. Even though we asked my MIL not to tell anyone, she had told DH's entire family within a week. So once she did that we started telling our friends. We had planned on waiting until 12 weeks, but that just didn't happen. My mom did wait until then to tell my family, but I'd say 90% of our friends knew by 6-7 weeks.
