How long did you wait until you told your job?
Im just curious. I know a lot of people wait until after the 12 week mark.
I kinda feel like I want to tell my boss earlier than that bc I know Im goign to be out a lot and I dont want it to seem like Im always going to the doctor. I know I will be going for TONS of bloodwork often bc I need my thyroid levels constantly checked because I had to have it removed a few years ago.
Also, did your boss treat you differently in a negative way after you told him/her?
Thanks ladies, Im just trying to figure out if I should say anything this soon in the game. According to my calculations, Im 4 weeks today. Im thinking to be safe, I may wait until we have the first sonogram.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
I told at the 14 or 15 week point. I was going to wait until 16 weeks, but I got a promotion and wanted to be upfront about what I could accomplish by when, since we were discussing my deliverables for the next 12 months.
My direct boss was cool with it, he had 2 kids and his wife had a tough time with 1 of her pregnancies, so he was really sympathetic.
His manager, our division VP, treated me differently after. She was pushing 40 and angry that she wasn't married let alone childless, and treated anyone who announced they were pregnant poorly. It was a shame, but I was warned ahead of time by several people who'd gone through it before me to be prepared.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
Since I conceived immediately after a m/c, the dr sent me for a slew of immediate blood tests, so I had to tell my manager I went to the hospital for blood tests. Of course she told everyone I just recently spoke with her again regarding my leave and coverage.
ETS: She didn't treat me any differently at all. She actually was more understanding during the 1st trimester with m/s.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
I wanted to wait until after the 1st trimester, but I have been so sick and my manager noticed I was wearing my sea band bracelets. She knew immediately when she saw them.
Everyone has been really great- I have to say I was surprised.
I would wait until you have your first sonogram.
Good luck.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
I'm 8 weeks PG with twins and still have not told anyone at work. When I was Pg last year, (which I ultimately M/C) my bosses were not very nice about it and they defintiely treated me differently. This time, I will wait as long as possible.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
I told my boss at 18 weeks. He is only here about once or twice a month lately- so he hasn't treated me too much differently. I was anxious to tell him earlier in case anything happened. I scheduled my doctors appointments and blood tests during non-working hours or at lunch when I could.

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
thanks for all of your input. I can't imagine why a boss would treat someone poorly bc they are PG, its horrible. I've been at my job for 6 years and just last month all of our management changed. SO I really do not know what to expect. One of my bosses is a mother of a baby herself so maybe she'll understand. (I hope)
I am def going to wait until after my 1st sono and I'll revisit the issue. The only reason I want to tell them is bc Im going to be going to Dr. appts mid-day and I dont want them to think anything suspicious.
Im also not looking for a promotion so Im not worried about losing out on that. I'm also worried bc if I tell them, I dont want the rest of my office to know, and where I work is like high school and I am SURE the word will be out within a day

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
Please everyone, look up your rights! BOsses and companies cannot treat you differently because you are pg, it's illegal!!!
it's treated the same as discrimination based on color, sex, religion, etc!!

Re: How long did you wait until you told your job?
I told my boss at 10 weeks- I had to because they wanted to transfer me. I ended up fighting it and got to stay where I am.
People do make preggo comments but nothing bad. They've pretty much treated me the same... they actually just increased my work load to the point where I'm going crazy!
