How long do you have to cash a check?
I found a check from someone who couldn't make it to our wedding. The date on it is Oct. 28, 2004. Can I still deposit it? There was nothing on it that said cannot be cashed after 60 days or anything.

Pretty sure the limit with banks is 6 months, any bank I have dealt with that was the expiration.

Re: How long do you have to cash a check?
many of the checks that I handle at work (from insurance companies) say 6 months right on them.
For personal checks, I think you have up to 1 year. Call your bank though - i may be wrong.
I would call the gifter, as a courtesy, to thank them again, and to let them know that you misplaced the check, and just recently found it.
Believe it or not, some people don't even keep $100 in their checking account on a regular basis.
