I usually have 1 - 2 bottles, I finish them before getting a new one (so they are tossed when they are empty.) I like to get them as gifts from DH, have him pick them out, just one of my things but it makes me so happy to know he picked it out.

I have 1 bottle of perfume (Shi by Alfred Sung) that is 1/2 full. It's probably about 4 yrs old and I haven't worn it in years. I would say after 5-6 yrs I would toss it.
