How long does a fresh IVF cycle take?
I'm starting a fresh cycle after I get AF in about a month, and wondering how long is usually takes? I did a fresh cycle a few years ago, but I really can't remember. How long are you on BCP for? My RE's office is closed the last week of December, and I'm praying that we have enough time to start my cycle after I get AF. I don't know how I'll be able to wait until January

i didnt have to go on bcp. i guess it depends on your dr. mine said only if i needed a "rest down" cycle that i would have to go on bcp.
i got af around 8/5, retrieval 8/22, bfp 9/2 so it was very quick for me

for me it was around 7 weeks from beginning to end. BCP for 3 weeks, then my stim took 12 days, then ER, then 5d tranfer, and BFP a week later.

What's the purpose of going on birth control? I remember going on it my first time (I gained 15lbs from it  ), and I would rather not if I don't have to.

My RE said that I will not need to go on BC. I think some REs use it to make your cycle more predictable. I am pretty consistently 28-30 days so my RE said there is no need for it.
We are hoping to get started right after the new year.

I started BCP 9/1 and my transfer was on 9/30, so about 4 weeks for me. It all depends on your medical history, diagnosis, response to meds, it is unique for everyone. Good luck!!

bcp in IVF is for suppression. the purpose is to suppress all of your natural hormone production so that the doctor can better control what happens with the selected protocol of meds.

I thought the SAME THING after reading that people don't go on BCP for a fresh cycle, but overall I really think it's best to go on it so the doctor can be in control of what happens and to make sure your natural cycle is completely suppressed.
