How long does diaper rash take to clear up?
We are dealing with our first case and I think she has had it for over a week now. I havent been using wipes and have been using balmax but it is still there.

Does it still hurt her or is it just still red? The redness takes a long time to go away for some babies even though the rash is technically healed and they no longer feel pain.
If it's still hurting her, I would try a different ointment (Desitin, Butt Paste, A&D, Triple Paste, etc) and leave her without a diaper for as long as you can, even if it's just a few minutes.

Have you taken her to the doctor? If it's been a week I think it needs to be evaluated. It could be a bacterial or fungal infection rather than just irritation from the diaper. I know when my DD has had a diaper rash, I use the Balmex and it is usually much better by the next diaper change and pretty much gone in about a day or two. She may need a prescription cream to clear it up.

I dont think it hurts her. Is it considered diaper rash if it is in the front? I have a doctor's appointment for her on the 19th - is it bad to wait till then?

Sara had terrible rashes for about one month. We tried everything . Finally doc gave us a prescription and it cleared it up. I swer by Triple Paste but it is expensive. If you go to Walsbaums in east Meadow the pharmacy will order a BIG container and it lasts a long time

Alex had a rash that wouldn't clear up for the past week & a half (I even bought triple paste), I took her to the Dr today & sure enough- a fungal infection. I searced on the i-net over the weekend & knew it wasn't ordinary diaper rash (she had never had it before).
Her gave an Rx for antibiotic cream, said it's normal at this age.
Hope it clears up soon!!!

I would try to get her in before that. If it needs a prescription, why put it off for another week?

Get Aveeno Bath put it in a warm bath & let her soak in it for a bit. It works wonders.

If the rash is a fungal infection, warm and moist makes it grow like wildfire!
