How long does it take for motrin to bring fever down?
Grace has 103.0 fever. I gave motrin at 9PM. She is asleep now. I just checked her and she is still burning up. The ped told me to give her 1 tsp of motrin.
How long will it take to bring the fever down? a half hour? hour? two hours? TIA
ETA: Should I wake her to take a temp n a few hours?

When RJ was cutting his molars he ran a high temp- I gave motrin and tylenol (at 2 different times obviously ) and neither broke the fever...
I just prevented it from going any higher...
ETA- Also- temp is sometimes elevated @ night when they are asleep...

Thank you
So, if she is asleep should I wake her? I just checked her and she is still warm, not as warm as before, but still feverish.

Thanks again! I wanted to wake her and DH thought I was nuts. I will let her sleep. I keep going in to feel her forehead. I guess if the fever gets worse she will wake up screaming right?

Teething and my MIL was sick yesterday. We spent the weekend with her so it might be both
ETA: It might be allergies too. I have no clue. The ped wants to see her tomorrow.

Re: How long does it take for motrin to bring fever down?
I'm not sure if you are interested but I'll put it out there. When my son was small the doctor suggested fever all. It is a suppository and it gets absorbed quickly and brings the highest fever down in a flash. I can't remember at what age I started using it but I remember thinking to myself I wish I would have known about it sooner. You may want to ask your doc about it.
The thought of it is kind of like your gonna hurt them but it instantly melts and doesn't bother them at all.
I hope she feels better!!!
