How long does it take to see a difference when you switch formula
Something has been telling me for the past 3 weeks that the formula is not agreeing with DS. The Dr. put him on Isomil because she thought he had a milk algery which I dont think he has. I think he was not use to formula and the dr. misread it as an allegry but anyway he has been on Isomil for 6.5 weeks now and for the past 3 weeks I would say I noticed that he has been spitting up a lot more. I know that babies spit up but it seems that he is constantly spitting up (not vomitting) and he will continue to spit up an hour after he eats. So yesterday I gave him a bottle at 2pm and he starts to squirm and arching his back after an ounce. So I try to burp him and he would burp. He was crying for 45 minutes and was in pain. I gave him Mylocon and DH and I just kept trying to get him to burp so I went and bought Nestle Good Strart Easy to Digest formula. He is still spitting up but instead of it looking like formula it is clear with bits of formula (he is not on any solids). I was wondering if anyon else had this problem and what you guys did.

Re: How long does it take to see a difference when you switch formula
It could take up to a few weeks to see a difference with formula, atleast that had been my experience. As for the squirming and pain that is what my DS starting doing, then it kept getting worse, they diagnosed him with acid reflux and put him on AXID three times a day and he is SOOOOOO much better now!

Re: How long does it take to see a difference when you switch formula
I know a lot of people say give the formula a week to work, but my ped said we should see a change within 2-3 days.
Arching and stretching and spitting up can be signs of reflux. Mylican didnt help my DD with that but the Zantac seems to have helped. Have you asked your dr about that?
It sounds like your formula isn't working for you. I would call your ped and switch to something else. We went through literally 7-8 formulas before finding one that worked and we noticed a difference within a few days.

Re: How long does it take to see a difference when you switch formula
I have an appointment on Wed. with a new doctor so hopefully I can get some answers. I finially made the switch and I am glad I did. Is it possible for him to develope reflux at 3 months? Also what would be signs that a formula doest agree with him?

I saw a difference with DD in one day, however I've heard it can take a week or two. Good luck, I hope he feels better!
