Haven't been in awhile, but we left once from Bay Shore and I want to say it was between 30-40 minutes?

Bay Shore to Ocean Beach should be about 25 minutes but sometimes the police make the ferry boats go very slowly, especially if a lot of recreational boaters are out. If you go to one of the smaller towns then your ferry may have two stops and your trip will be longer. Getting to the ferry from anywhere on LI or from the city is always the worst part of any Fire Island trip. Life's worries just melt away when you step on the boat.

ETA: waiting for everyone to load onto and off the boat can be a more lengthy process than the boat ride. The time on the water is short.
