How many calories do you eat a day?
I know that everyone's different and has different goals but I was wondering what the average is? And what is your workout routine?
I'm trying to loose another 10 pounds. I already lost 3 (YEA) and I'm eating approx 1,200 calories a day. I work out 6 days a week. 40 min walk-run 4 days a week and 2 days a 50 min cardio/body sculpting class.

I was eating 1200 but I wasn't losing much. Now that I've increased to 1400, I'm doing better. I try to run 3 times a week. I'm doing the couch to 5k program.

I am not really into counting calories, but for the amount you are working out, I do not think you are not eating enough calories. You would burn over 1200 calories a day even if you did no physical activity: Why 1200 Calorie Diets do not Make You Lose Weight
As for working out, it looks like your routine is good to me.

I'm in "maintenance mode" now and probably eat about 2000 calories a day. I work out for 45 minutes 3-4 times a week, that's it (SO busy with grad classes lately). Some weeks I'll lose a pound, some weeks I'll gain a pound, but my weight has been pretty steady for three months now.
I bet if I worked out more (like if I started running again), I'd lose weight at that 2000 calories a day.

I have slowly been losing about .5 to 1 pound a week. I just started keeping track of my calories and its amazing how it changes everyday for me. I average anywhere from 1000-1400 calories a day. I know 1000 is too low, so i'm using this calorie tracker to make sure i consume enough. I used to eat more than 2,000 a day, probably a lot more, but i slowly was able to train my body to survive on less. The website i'm on says, based on weight, height, age and activity level, that i need 1200-1500 a day.

I did use Spark people for awhile and was at about 1400 calories a day. Give or take you know.

I'm not losing weight right now (I am maintaining)... I think I eat a little over 2,000 calories a day but I am very active.
I have lost weight in the past slowly & steadily by eating around 1500 calories a day (and working out too).

I am using this site , that I find helpful for me. It's called the "Daily Plate" - I am finding it to be very helpful especially when I log in what I ate for the day and adding the excercises really helps me to see what I am accomplishing. Currently, I am taking in about 850 calories a day for the past two weeks. This will enable me to lose 3 pounds a week. I excercise 5 times a day - 1 hour of cardio each day combined with light weights - for toning.

WOW! 850? That is starvation....I don't think you will lose weight that way

I don't think you will either, that is way too little for an adult to be eating. Especially if you are an active person. I think 1200 is the minimum & even that is not enough for most adults.

Exactly. Bear in mind that when you drop below the 1200 minimum your body goes into "starvation" mode and your metabolism slows WAY down. Basically your body thinks there is a famine and it starts STORING fat. I remember on the biggest loser the weeks they didn't eat enough - they either didn't lose weight or they GAINED weight- and Jillian and Bob SCREAMING at them about not taking in enough calories...

To loose about 1-2 lb a week you would need to eat about 300-500 calories less then what your eating now daily. The average person burns abt 1600 calories a day doing nothing. Just cut back slowly to determine your personal needs. Good Luck
