How many days did you stay home from work after having your wisdom teeth out?
Is it really unreasonable for someone to think they could go to work the next day?

Had all 4 of mine done on a Friday and was back by Monday or Tuesday. I was put out for mine also. Everyone is different.

it depends how many at a time and if they are impacted or not. i had 2 taken out at a time, they were impacted, but i was out and about at a bar that night (i was in my 20s)
some people who have them taken out, will nurse it for days
but everyone has their own level of pain tolerance, and reactions. i did not swell

How many days did you stay home from work after having your wisdom teeth out?
I'm in the dental field, everyone is different. Full impaction is different than partial or not impacted. Maximum swelling happens around 36 hours so it's normal to have discomfort to that point or beyond. It also depends on what you do at work. Heavy lifting, strenuous activity and exercise is not permitted for 24 hours after surgery.
Giving yourself one day to recover is probably a good idea, the best scenario is a Friday if you're off on weekends.

I went in the next day. I was fine. But mine were not impacted.

How many days did you stay home from work after having your wisdom teeth out?
I had all 4 impacted and and a cyst removed during the surgery. It took me well over a week I had terrible facial swelling and tongue swelling. And then there are lucky people back to themselves within a day!!! Everyone is different !

I had all 4 taken out, 2 badly impacted impacted, and it took me 2 days to get back to work. I do a lot of speaking for my job so I gave myself the extra day.

I had 6 pulled at once, 4 impacted wisdom and two other teeth. I looked like a chipmunk for 2 weeks. I had them pulled as a teen not adult, but the biggest rule to follow, KEEP ice on your face it will help with the swelling. I was in too much pain and unable to take oral pain meds (vomiting from the blood I swallowed) TMI. I also let the ice pack slip off :
I agree, everyone is different. In general I am a slow healer.
If you feel well go to work or take it day by day. Ask your DMD how many days they think you will need

I got mine out on Friday and went back to work on Tuesday, 3 days. however I had a 3 day weekend I probably could of been back on Monday if I had to. However my sister's were really impacted and she took 5 days and needed it.

All 4 were taken out and all were impacted. I was swollen for days. It was miserable. I'm jealous of those who are better in a day or two.

I had all 4 done at once on a friday morning. They were all impacted and it was plain AWFUL.
That night I was throwing up so bad but couldn't open my mouth they had to call in a prescription to CVS to help with the nausea.. then I needed more pain meds bc it was out of control. I dont think I made it back to work until wednesday or even thursday of the following week. I was a mess!

I had all 4 out at once and 2 were impacted... I would say the first 3 days sucked really bad and I cant imagine trying to work the next day.

I had 2 taken out on a Friday morning and I was back at work on Monday. However, by Fri night I was completely fine and ate a regular dinner. Never even took pain meds. I was expecting a lot worse.

Had all four impacted and pulled on a Friday afternoon.. worked until noon that Friday.
They had to leave parts of one of them inside. Very impacted. I had IV sedation for it.
I was back at work the following Monday
So technically I didn't lose ANY Days at all.. just a half day, which was easy since I skipped lunch.
ETA: I wasn't BETTER by Monday and I took my pain meds. It wasn't fun at all. I certainly wasn't back to a regular diet for a good week! But I *WAS* back at work. LOL

IMO, totally unreasonable. Mine were taken out a long time ago, so I don't remember how long I took off, but definitely the next day! I felt fine when I left the oral surgeon, a couple hours later after the painkillers wore off, I was begging someone to kill me!

I am in the field also and agree 100%.,. If you dont work weekends....schedule it for a Friday and you should be fine for Monday. Thats what a lot of my patients do. Again...it depends on if the teeth are impacted or not.

According to the quote they gave me, 2 are bony impacted and 2 are soft impacted but 3 of them are fully out. Can they be considered impacted if they're fully out?

Mine wasn't impacted so right away. I also had a severe abscess that I let go for 2 days till my dentist said get in there ASAP and my tooth was pulled. I was in severe pain but I went back the next day.

I had it done on a saturday but I had a vacation week following so I obviously had a lot of time. But Saturday was about the anethesia wearing off, sunday was getting used to healing. By Tuesday, I was good but swollen and still not eating normally. Surprisingly, I did NOT need any pain meds after (no tylenol either) but even without the time, I would have given myself 3 days. If done on Friday, you might by good to go back on Tuesday. My bf had an AWFUL reaction to the anethesia (sp) and needed a whole week. Take it day by day.
