How many mommies are teachers?

I think there are more of us on here then I thought!!

I'm a teacher -- I teach 1st grade special education in Bushwick, Brooklyn. I've been teaching for 6 years - 3 of which were PreK in private school, then a year of self-contained 2-3-4th grade, a year of K-Collaborative and a year of 1-collaborative.

I am! I teach in the Bronx. This is my 5th year there. I taught 4th for 1 year, 2nd for two years, and since I went back in Feb. (I stayed home with DS for 6 months) I've been out of the classroom and will continue in that position this year as we are TTC again!

I am! I also teach in the Bronx--high school English. This September I will be beginning my 11th year

I am! I teach 2nd grade in Great Neck. I taught first last year, and have taught almost all grades: k-12. I am the general ed. teacher in a collaborative, but I've taught both general ed. and special ed. I can't believe it, but I just finished 15 years of teaching! (I did start right out of college, but still.........)

I am! I teach 5th grade in Merrick. Before this I taught 4th grade for 5 years in the Bronx.

i am about to start my fifth year teaching 6th grade in Williamsburg Brooklyn. i am going back in december.

me too! i teach high school history in new jersey (used to teach on LI in franklin square). this will be my 8th year teaching, but i'll be on maternity leave until january 30.

I taught 3rd grade for 5 years and 2nd for a year.

I can't wait to go back to work!!!

I teach middle school LOTE on the island. I am starting my 11th year

I'm technically a teacher...just not officially on LI and I guess I"m not officially a mommy either so I'm just stealing your post!!

Anyway I taught for 7/8 of a school year down in Boca Raton, FL.

I am certified 7-12 Math.

I am looking for a LI teaching job, however being preggo wasn't helping on the interviews.

I'm hoping to find a leave replacement in November or so to get more experience and hopefully a f/t position next year!

I teach kindergarten for Smithtown. I taught SPED Kinder for 5 years and this will be my 4th year in regular ed kinder. I love it! (9 years total! )

I teach elementary school in Far Rockaway....going into my 9th year already!!! Would love to get out and got to another school....I hate the administration....

How cool, there are so many teachers here!! I was wondering how many were here too !

Im "just a sub" in Commack and Northport. Kinda got my eyes open if anything comes up, and kinda liking the best of both worlds in subbing part time... Im scared of getting a job offer, I give teacher-mommies LOTSSSS of credit !!! I cant WAITTT to teach and have my own classroom one day, but Im stuck in the p/t SAHM/p/t teacher mode (well had grad school at nite till 2months ago, so that kept me plenty busy too and oh yeah, 2 toddlers )

But I truly admire you all and hope to get some great ideas from you all !

I'm a teacher too! I'm going into my 7th year in Sept.....Geez...I feel old....I have 3 licenses (Special ed, elementary ed, and Reading) and I'm gtoing back to school for Administration in Sept (I know I'm nuts!) My first two years I taught at a Special Ed Pre-K in Whitestone. Since then I have been working in Rego Park. I taught one year in a 2nd Grade Inclusion Class, 2 years as a SETSS (Resource room) teacher, 1 year as a 5th grade Inclusion teacher and next year I go back as general ed Kindergarten. So I'm going from 5th grade to K....wish me luck.....i think I'll need it.

Me too...I taught 4th grade for 10 yrs -- just became the Middle school math specialist in Plainview.

I teach Special Ed. on the Elementary level in Hempstead. ALthough it is rated the worst district on Long Island it is not that bad. I taught Self - COntained for 5 years and next year I am doing inclusion

I have been teaching for 15 years- oh my god could it be that long This year I will be teaching 5th grade math.
