How many of you feel lucky to have gotten or get a raise this year?

I honestly didn't expect one given the current economy and what has been going on this week alone. To hear I got a raise, even if it was minimal - I have to admit I am VERY appreciative right now.

I told my boss..I'm thankful to have a job after what transpired this week, so this is just an extra bonus for me.

ETA: A co-worker of mine was upset with what they got. I just don't get it.

I doubt I will see a raise this year.

I think bonuses will be bad as well.

My DH is so grateful just to have a job.

But, of course, THIS WEEK is his anniversary date at AIG and was supposed to get a raise.

Oh well...we'll take the "no raise". They're all just trying to stay afloat over there.

I think it totally depends on your industry...
I just got a VERY nice raise... and our business is actually picking up this week for some reason...
I'd be fine either way though.
I'm just glad to have a job I like.

I got my raise and I never expected not to.....My job is not dependent on the economy

DH got one this year cause he's NYPD---but IMO it was a loooong time coming and he was given retro check money for amount owed to him from not having a contract. so while i know we're lucky he received this raise cause of the economy--i just feel like it is more than deserved.

i still received a bonus at the end of tax season from my job...but it was smaller than last year, but i understand it.

Honestly, we are the lowest paid in our industry, so the piddly raise we got wasn't enough for me. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to move because of the flexibility, etc. As grateful as I am to have a job, it still sucks

Well, I'm a teacher, but in a private school, so the economy absolutely affects our school in a direct way. Our enrollment is down this year, and a lot of parents have told us it's the economy and they cannot afford tuition right now. I still got a very nice raise and was partially expecting my boss to make us resign contracts for our old salaries when we started the school year. That's how bad it is right now.

I did receive a substantial raise this past January which I feel was deserved but i'm grateful to have had the opportunity to earn it.

I got an unexpected raise and I'm very thankful for it. even more thankful to have a great job during this difficult time in our economy.

DH got a nice raise - we're blessed.

we are crossing our fingers - Dh's up for a very large raise (25%)!!! His boss is pushing hard for it, but even if it ends up 10%, how could we be upset?


As for me, I will always remember what someone said to me about teaching - it's a recession proof job.

I agree it depends on your field and what you do.

My raises are guaranteed every year I have my job and they are very good raises. I feel lucky to have them EVERY year, especially this one.

I'm grateful to have a job, let a long get a raise this year. I've been nervous because my company is still spending money like it's nothing. But we seem to be in good shape. I even got a surprise bonus last week.

As a teacher we go up each year. I feel lucky that I am in a somewhat stable industry

With the state of the economy my office is busier than ever! But do you think we ever see the money?

I have to say that in my office we were complaining bc the end of the fiscal year usually means the end of overtime and I can't believe we have the luxury of complaining about overtime when some people are out of work! I am so grateful for any remaining overtime and even my little cost of living raises that I get. I also recently just got a cash award! I definitely try to appreciate these things more now!
