How many ounces are you getting when you pump at work?

Ive been having trouble making enough milk at work for the following day for the nanny. Thank g-d I froze over 100 ounces but still when that runs out I wont be able to leave him enough milk for the day. (I have the Madela advanced pump in style)

I pump at like 11am and 3pm and i make 5-6 ounces total the first pump and maybe 4 ounces at the next. My son needs at least three 6 ounce bottles for when I am at work.

He nurses at night and in the morning and I know he is getting enough.

I saw on another parenting board I am on that she pumps about 20 ounces a day, how do you do that?

I just returned to work and I have the same issue. I've only had time to pump twice once and that second time got 4 oz. but my pumping once usually gives me 5-7 oz. I have been trying to pump one side while feeding on the other before I leave for work which is giving me another 3-4oz. Also i try to squeeze out a bottles worth throughout the day on the weekend. DS is only 2 months though and I guess will be needing more which will be a problem, i am hoping i produce more when this happens.

20? Wow! I take Fenugreek regularly, drink lots of water and I'm still lucky if I get 13 oz a day! Right now my ds takes two 6 oz bottles when I'm at work (I visit him during my lunch hour to nurse him) and I'm just covering the 2 bottles with an occasional extra ounce. I have NO stash & we're starting solids in a few weeks, so I'm getting nervous about how my supply is going to react...I'd like to see some tips as well!

Thats what I said when I saw 20 ounces. I drink tons of water all day but i commute into the city and cant see him during the day to nurse. Sometimes he needs 4 bottles a day (he is 16 weeks tomorrow) AND i CANT KEEP UP.

What is that stuff you are taking??

DD was taking about 4 oz (sometimes 5 oz) at a time until 5 months so I was able to pump enough for 3 bottles at work. I'd get 4 oz every pumping session and I pumped 3x. Then i'd stay up late and pump before I went to bed to have an extra bottle just in case and for MIL to use to mix with her cereal.

At 5 months I had to start supplementing with formula. She was starting to eat 5-6 oz at a time and I just couldn't pump enough and had no freezer stash. Now I pump just 1x/day and get 5 oz.

With Ryan, I got like 35oz/day - 8oz per breast in the a.m. and then like 5oz per session at work (3x) and once before bed (4oz or so). I go back to work March 1 with Colin - we'll see. I think I'll get less at least until he starts STTN. He eats all night long and some mornings I only get 4oz from both breasts.

how old is your DC?

That seems like a lot of BM! at the most I ever gave was 5oz in a bottle for the entire first year..

but if you want to increase..pump after you nurse to tell your body to make more...which would be all extra...pump before you go to bed a full session ususally/hopefully a couple of hrs after your DC goes to bed for their longest stretch

drink lots and lots and lots of water...

take fenugreek (3 pills , 3 times a day) that helped me increase my supply..

are you massaging/dong breast compressions while pumping...I did this the whole 20 min session and this sometimes doubled my supply than when I DONT do it! it helps get more milk out!

make sure you pump until you get a big second let down..this would often give me another oz at the very end..this always came int the 20-25 min mark!

I mostly pumped for the whole year for both of my DCs so it is possible! Good luck! IT is great you have a supply to help you out when you start to dip..bec you will dip esp when you get your AF again!

The fenugreek w/lots of water did help me get to the point where I was making enough to cover my bottles. I was taking 3 610mg pills twice a day and then 2 pills in the late evening, but I've been slacking on the night pills since he's going longer stretches and I was waking up engorged...I'm going to try and start taking them earlier. GL - hopefully it helps!

I pump 3 or four times a day.

I get about 5 oz the first time, and then 3 the rest.

I supplement his bottles with 2 oz each of formula a day (total of 8 oz)

I was not producing enough before I went back to work to have much of a stash.
