How many pairs of jeans do you need ?
I am trying to downsize and I know I have way too many-how many would you keep/have?

I have a few pairs that I wear on the weekends for hanging out, a few pairs that are dressy go-out jeans, and a pair of "work" jeans for gardening or painting.

I always have a lot of jeans
~weekend/errand pair
~bootcut with boots for work pair
~ tall for heels pair
~dark wash for night/parties pair
~fat jeans for that time of the month

I wear jeans to work, so I need at least 4-5 pairs, but I have a couple of extra. I am actually looking to purchase a couple of high end pairs, because most of my jeans are from The Gap, Express etc. and since I wear them so much, I want to splurge!

wow! i am the wrong girl to comment, i have easily over 20 pairs...i dont get rid of ANYTHING unless i know for sure I will never wear it again! I am a bit of a jeans W H O R E !! lol

I used to have over 20 pairs, but I got rid of all of my fab size 2 jeans on ebay this year. I just knew in my heart I would never be a 2 again...

lol, hopefully you made nice $$ off them and could replace them. it is funny though, i mean i barely get to wear jeans...i just cant help it, they are my weakness! esp since i feel like i need to have them in all different lengths, cut, etc. Ie for heels, flip flops, sneakers and then "go-out", comfy, nicer comfy etc.
wow...i feel like the episode of friends where they ask about monica's towel categories, everyday, guest, fancy-guest etc.  at least i crack myself up

But we're American girls! We need our jeans! I probably could've bought myself a diamond tiara with all of the jeans I've racked up over the years!

seriously....i probably could have bought them for both of us!
to answer the OP....i dont think you can EVER have enough...unless of course you dont have the space...then try them ALL on and only keep the ones you know you will wear. Don't limit yourself to a # otherwise you will end up getting rid of something you may wear later and then you will say "if only i had that specific pair of jeans"
