How many times am I allowed to call
the babysitter before I am being a crazy paranoid new mommy?? It's only 9:30am and I already called once. Today is Jake's first full work day with the sitter. Ugh...this is so hard! It took everything not to cry this morning when I dropped him off. He didn't make it any easier for mommy either - he was all smiles and cooing when I was leaving!!
Can I get some ???
When does it get easier?

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
The first time I dropped by daughter off at the babysitter, I did cry, as a matter of fact, I cried the whole week dropping her off. I called the babysitter about 6 times a day...then it occurred to me that if something was wrong or the sitter wasn't sure of something, she would call me
I still call a minimum of once a day. But it does get easier, believe me. There was even one day that I didn't call at all, and then at the end of the day I thought to myself OMG, I never called today - it just goes to show that you do adjust - and it gets easier! And I know she is in great hands.
I promise, it will get better!

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
New baby - you can call twice. Once in the morning, once in afternoon before they'll consider you psychotic. Maybe you can just hook a con call unit & listen all day...? Kidding..kidding.. Hang in there, it does get easier.
Oh & with a 4 year old & 2 year old - I call the daycare once a day to check in.

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
Luckily my husband is home and drops her off before he leaves and I have to pick her up. It's so hard, I know! Call as often as you need to, to make yourself feel better. But as was previously stated if something was wrong the sitter would call you. But call as much as you like, it's your baby! The sitter I am sure will completely understand!!!
Many 's to you!

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
When I left Emily for the first time, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. My heart ached for weeks. Now, I KNOW she is in good hands and although my heart still aches, I am able to get through the day only calling once. Hang in there and call as much as you need too.

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
Wait until they go through separation anxiety - about 8 mos...that'll rip your heart out --- or worse, not cry at all & say "Bye, Mommy, have a good day!"

I know it's difficult - call whenever you feel the need. Hang in there - as everyone says, it gets easier.

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
Molly has been in daycare since she was 14 weeks old (part time) and I still call once a day to check on her. You can call as often as you need to!

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
I haven't been through this but from what I have read mom's say it does get easier. I say call as much as you need to in order to ease your mind.

Re: How many times am I allowed to call
I still remember my co-worker slamming the phone down in her office & screaming. We went running in & said "What happened?" She said "My babysitter called. She called to tell me that MY son just called HER MOMMY and wasn't that cute! I need to leave. I need to go stab her right now"

Anyone who is a child care provider and has half a brain knows to never ever tell a parent that!!!
Call as much as you like. I work in day care and I tell my parents all the time(especially infants) to call as often as they like, we know that parents get upset about it especially in the beginning!!!
