how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
DH & I are trying finish up some little things today, but as I look around my house I realize how many things aren't really done. Our main staircase is a disaster, but there is no money in the budget right now to finish it the way we want. DH of course wants to rip out the other wall that we planned to take out & leave it more half arsed looking than it already is. I say no way, no more demo till we can buy everything to finish it. We put laminate floors in our great room when we moved in & I'm not thrilled with them, I want bamboo in there & right into the kitchen- This is probably a wishlist item though. Our basement stairwell is another train wreck, we never finished sanding & painting the new sheetrock & the stairs need to be carpeted & we need a handrail-this is a project I'm going to try to complete in the near future. our 3rd bathroom needs to be gutted & replaced. We have 99% of the materials, just need to do it! Today we are working on our basement, trying to finish up DH's workshop & we need to finish the laundry area. I HATE doing laundry in a nasty unfinished basement Then we have all the outdoor projects....the list goes on.
How many open items do you have? Are they things on your wishlist or stuff you just didn't get around to finishing yet? Do you feel like it will never all be done? I'm starting to look at stuff we did less then two years ago & want to change it already, yet I didn't even finish everything yet!

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
We have to finish the molding on all our staircases, molding in our office (bedroom#2), put doors (have to be custome made) on storage areas in bedroom #3, Finish the basement and possibly add a bathroom, SIDING & ROOF & PORCH I also want to remove the 2 trees in my backyard because they are huge and almost dead, and replace them with smaller young trees. Then we still need to find and buy a casual dining room set.
After all we have accomplished so far, this list doesn't seem that bad

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
I feel like our list is endless...
our short term / "in progress" items are: -replacing our windows -tiling the backsplash -replacing all the base moldings downstairs (they were ripped off when we put in the hardwood) -prepping the nursery
then we can move on to: -re-grading the backyard -riping the carpet off the staircase & replacing the railing -painting the extra bedrooms upstairs -removing the wallpaper & painting the laundry room -changing the front door -replacing the tile floor in the half bath and laundry room (the only two rooms on the 1st floor that we didn't put hardwood in) -powerwashing/staining the cedar shingles -landscaping & decorating!
I'm so glad all the "major construction" work is done, but the list is still endless...

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
I am happy to say not too much is left! It seemed neverending. We want to: Get a new fence, which they are actually coming next week for an estimate. Get some bushes/plants taken out in the backyard and add grass where they are. Bannisters for all the stairs, it is a split, so we need 3. Repaint the den b/c it got messed up during that bad rain storm and when we got a tv installed.
And I think that is it! If we planned on staying here for a long time, we would pave the driveways, but we probably won't get around to that.

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
Kelly, I don't even have time to type it all out. I just can say I've lived in a house "under construction" for more than 5 years, since we bought and moved in. My DH is a strict do-it-yourselfer (read: CHEAP AZZ) and he only has 1 day off a week, so things take 5 years of Sundays to get done!
Here's what we are concentrating on now, in the next few months.
1. Turning the office room into the new nursery to anticipate baby #2 in May.
2. Getting central AC installed. We have forced air heating system already with the ducts in place, so I hope its not a huge, or expensive, job.
3. Intall new entry way stairs and banisters.
After this, we want to:
1. Refinish lower level (half-started!) and make it a playroom/den.
2. Replace countertops in kitchen. Cabinets and floor are fine, appliances are brand new.
3. Buy a bigger HD TV and a nice entertainment center to put it all together in.
After all this, we hope to sell and move

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
I want to work on the garden a little more. The change in weather and the cold fronts caused many of my plants to not do so well.
Paint. I hate looking at the walls. They are all white. I want some color.
later in the year we'd like to start looking at pool companies and add a pool.

Re: how many unfinished or wishlist projects do you have?
Since we are in an apartment, the list is short and part of that is that we are also limited in what we can do. But we want to do the following:
Bedroom set Entertainment unit New kitchen countertop Refinish cabinets/possibly redo although the kitchen is pretty much only 3 years old add shelves to the pantry add shelves to the coat closet add shelves to the linen closet paint the bathroom add a built in bookcase to our foyer alcove fix molding by the front door hang up our pictures take pictures and enlarge and frame

OMG that is my husband too! And too proud to ask for help. Forget it if you have any family or friendly obligations on Sundays-the day is shot
I told DH our next house will need nothing done, and I'm hiring an interior decorator. A girl can dream can't she?
