how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
friend of mine wants me to babysit her daughter at my place and I don't know how much I should charge them, I don't know how many hours or how many days yet, but wanted to be prepared when we talk about it, so I want to have an idea how much is too much and how much is too little

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
I have a sitter who has 4 children of her own and watches my dd 2 days a week, she only charges me $25 a day
I live in Charlotte and this is EXTREMELY cheap

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
I get 250 a week. 7:30-3 everyday.
He comes with all his meals, diapers...
I was offered a little more by a different family, but this one is the perfect fit, so I went for it.
good luck!

I'm in the same boat, I will be watching a little one in September full time and have been thinking of asking for $45 - 50 a day.

I think 40/day is fair for a SAHM watching other peoples kids (200 dollars weekly) especially if you have more than one kid.

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
well I am thinking I am going to ask for $300 a week , b/c I think it's going to be full time 9-5 5 days a week (maybe $250 if it's less hours and days), so I think thats not too much, I mean the reason they want me to watch her is , b/c the child is crying too much at the daycare, she hates it, it's not b/c they can't afford it, I do know that they used to pay 500 a week there and more for extra hours.

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
well an hour for a hr day would be 0.0 ay giving you 250.00 a week so any weer from 200.00-250.00 would be fair, the only down side for them is they cant claim it on ther taxes as child care expenses ( and you dont claim it either) thats why I think at 5.00 and hr give or take is fair

My friend pays $20.00 per day, but I think that is an unusually good price.

Are you sure she's not a difficult child to watch? I would factor that into my decision. JMO....

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
I paid $250 a week 8:30 - 6:00 (but I usually dropped off at 8:45 and picked up at 5:30).
The second woman charged $60 but he was part time - $240 FT.
My caregivers were both state certified so I could claim the on my taxes.

I babysit 3 month old twins 2 days a week, 12 hours a day. It works out to $4 per kid, per hour = $200

When I paid 200/weekly, I also paid when my child didn't go and when I had vacations. The babysitter got 200/regardless of how many times she came.
I don't mean to be rude but I probably would feel uncomfortable paying that much (300/weekly equals 12-1500 dollars a month) considering you are taking care of your own child as well.

Re: how much do babysitters charge a week to babysit at their own home?
Posted by tamtahaus yes she is a very difficult child . so that's one o the reasons I can't babysit her $5 per hour.
go with your gut then and put 300.00 out on the table.
If you wind up feeling used or underpaid, your days are going to su ck.
watching someone's kid is a tough gig. Sure most days are fun and problem free. But their safety is in your hands. Reporting all bumps and falls.
Sometimes your own kid drives you nutty on rainy days...you have to find a way to love someone elses whiney child day in and day out.
So, if you are paid properly as you feel fit, its more of an incentive to put on a smile and love the kid like your own for those hours. Its really only fair to the child as well.
I really appreciate my pay. I always email his mom throughout the day with pics or videos. She knows I go out of my way to have his naptime taken seriously since he is a light sleeper.

I don't think 300 in unreasonable- especially if she is a difficult child to care for- my SIL nanny brings her granddaugter and charges her $400 a week. I think that is still very reasonable.
