How much do I need (clothes)

Had my shower this weekend, and received a ton of 6, 9, and 12 month clothes.

Currently, I have:
- 1 newborn footie
- 2 newborn outfits
- 3 newborn onesies (gray-polka dots and stripes)
- 3 3-month footies
- 2 3-month outfits
- 5 pack of white onesies (3 months)
- a ton of socks- like 9 or 10 pairs

How many more footies and outfits do I need? I have plenty of burp cloths, bibs, etc etc etc. But the physical outfits in the beginning months are what I am missing.

I wouldn't buy anymore newborn items until after the baby was born. If your baby is big weight wise or just very long, they won't really fit in it for very long or at all.

Another 3-4 footie pajamas would be good in size 3 months. You could also buy another outfit too, but it just depends on how often you want your kid to be dressed up. My DC was primarily in footed pjs at that age.

Also when the baby is born and people come to visit, they usually bring an outfit with them (at least that was the case for me.)

Hope this helps.

I'd grab one or two more newborn footie pajamas. DS lived in those for the first few weeks. Unless your baby ends up being on the larger side, they should fit in newborn size for at least 2 weeks.

I'd also grab a couple more 3 month outfits. With all the spit ups and diaper blow outs, you'll end up changing their clothes a couple times throughout the day.

You definitely will need more 3 month clothes unless you really like doing laundry every day. At that point you will be going through at least 2 or 3 outfits a day.

for the newborn and 3 month footies i would try to find ZIP UPS -- so much easier than buttoning 12 snaps at 3am. I think gerber had 3 packs of these zip ups. id buy at least 2 of those 3 packs in each size. they are super cheap.

You need more. DD lived in footies and was in newborn for at least 6 weeks or so. I'd say we had maybe 12 newborn footies and I think 18 3m. If you're due in summer I'd get a bunch of onesies too. There may be times you just have them in a onesie (I always used footies in the beginning because dd was Dec.)

I also agree with zipper over snaps, BUT you only have to unsnap the bottoms for diaper changes whereas you need to unzip the whole footie.

I would pick up more newborn footies/3m footies.. I only kept both kids in newborn footies when they were first born, even though it was hot out, they were in the house which had AC. People will also buy you clothes when the baby is born, some of the stuff I didn't even get a chance to put on my kids.

I would do a few more outfits in each size. Then again, I know I'm the odd man out because I never really dressed dd in sleepers/feetie things/onesies. She's always been in regular outfits every day since she was born.

My girls always wore footies around the house and to bed. They were usually good with 1 per day (we didn't use bottles and they didn't spit up a lot), but sometimes they could go through 3 in a day with leaks or poop explosions. I would say 8 footies are a good amount for newborn and 3 months. We always preferred the zipper ones.
I would usually put a onesie under the footie too.
For my summer baby, I bought some cute newborn onesies, rompers, and bodysuit dresses for outdoors. I don't recall how many, but we only used them for about a month.

Same here. I got my girls dressed everyday. My second dd was almost 9lbs and wore newborn for 3 weeks. I think you may want a few more things especially onsies. In 0-3 months you will want more outfits and pjs.

Re: How much do I need (clothes)

My general rule is at least 10 of everything b/c I don't like to do laundry more than once a week even with accidents.

My first DS was born at the end of May and we did just onesies during the day and gowns at night with a swaddle when he was nb size. I plan to do the same with this one. So I will have 10 nb onesies, 10 nb pants (for places with a/c), 10 gowns.

Once he moved up to 0-3 we started with the footie pjs and had 10 of those. And then we had 10 onesies and 10 pants.

For this third DS we have clothes coming out our ears and I'm praying people don't buy us more!!!

If I were you I'd pick up a few more things and as others said you will surely get some outfits as gifts once DC is here.

Ditto this and gowns. So much easier. Personally, I'd get more newborn clothes and definitely more 3 month footies.
