Re: How much do teachers....

It depends on what district you work for or if you teach in the city. I didn't think my starting salary was "that horrible". What I make after 7 years is even better.

Can you give me an idea or fm me if you want. I thought it wasn't "that" bad (I am probably making more after many, many years at my job-lol!!).

Re: How much do teachers....

there was a thread on the teachers board about this. salary

after 5 years (so figure with a master's) the average on that post was $65-75,000. i'm not a teacher, but i've had to look at many district contracts and i'd say the average starting is around $42-55,000 depending on district/county (the city is lower than LI). You can pick up extra money by coaching or doing extra things like plays, etc.

Re: How much do teachers....

it varies considerably from district to district. the city is usually the lowest in comparison to nassau, suffolk and westchester. my salary went up to $12,000 in ONE year from a city school to a school in Nassau county. the city has a better contract now though so their salaries, while still lower, are closer to LI salaries. also the degree you have plus any other credits if they accept them also factors in.

Re: How much do teachers....

list of LI salaries

for 2004/2005 - to get this year's salary it's about 3.5% increase per year - so 40,000 x 1.035 x 1.035 x 1.035 x 1.035 + ~$46000

give or take
