How much do you pay a babysitter? I'm clueless.
We usually use my sister or SIL to babysit Katie. But we're considering using one of the girls from Katie's daycare - she just loves Katie and vice versa. She's 19 and we'd ask her to babysit for a few hours on a weekend night. But I have no idea how much to pay her. What's the going rate?

Unfortunatley for a good babysitter you will probably end up paying what they request ($10-$15 per hour ).
At least $10 per hour but dont' be surprised if the babysitter want up to $15 per hour.
We are currently paying $10 per hour.

Wow!!! I used to get $5 hour for 2 kids LOL...guess that was a few years back though!
OK so average is about $10-15. At that rate all we're going to be able to do is go sit in the car in the driveway! LOL

I would say $10 too.
If I were gonna charge , I would charge as an adult with experience, $10 an hour.

I used to get $10 an hour for 6 kids. That was 6-8 years ago. I also would do their laundry and vacuum! I was an idiot!

We pay my niece $10 an hour. She normally gets betwenn $10 and $12.

10 bucks an hour! Where do these teenagers get the guts to charge that much?!?!? Maybe I should become a baby sitter!!!!
ETS: This is really bugging me. Is this what their parents are telling them to charge?

That's what we're paying our sitter who watches Ellie mornings when I work and we haven't used her at night yet but we'll give her the same for that too.

I pay my all-the-time daycare-hours babysitter $6.25/hr but that's for full time daycare.
WHen my sister babysits for a few hours on a weekend, I pay her about $10/hr. It's usually only for like 3-4 hours for dinner and a movie.

I use 2 different college girls from my daughter's pre school and pay them both $12.00 per hour. That is pretty much the going rate.

I pay our sitter 10 dollars an hour, but that's during the day when she's actually doing something. I have a hard time paying someone 10 bucks an hour to sit on my couch and watch tv. We're lucky that if we want to go out on the weekends, someone in my family will watch her, or our friends will volunteer to sit here for a few hours. I mean, come on, SHE'S SLEEPING! How much of that 10 bucks an hour are you earning eating my snacks and watching HBO?

Not a chance. I would say you get a 2 for 1 special. $11 at most should be fine.
I would ask how much they charge. I have one of Maddie's teacher at $9/hour - I just pay her $10 since the other teachers charge $11.
FM me if you need her number. She's great for during the week.

Kathy, I haven't had to do this just yet, so I'm not much help there. I'm just hoping you fnd one, at a reasonable price, so we can go out Friday!! LOL
