How much do you pay for dance class?

If you don't mind, how much do you pay for your child's dance class?

How long is the class? How many classes and how many times per week? What is the monthly tuition?

I registered Megan today for a ballet/tap combo beginner class and was SHOCKED when they told me the tuition per month. Just wondering what other places are like. TIA.

Once a week for an hour. We pay either 40 or 45 I don't remember. Sept -June plus we still have to pay for costume and tickets.

Their old school was $11 weekly for a 45 min. lesson. There was a recital every year...so add pictures and a $75 costume to that, plus tickets of course.

Their new school is $70/month regardless of 4 or 5 week months. Also for a 45 minutes lesson. They only have a recital every other year so I guess we saved there this past June since it was an off year--I also know the costumes are less expensive than the first place too. I think the monthly price is exorbitant though!

with DD#1 i payed a RIDICULOUS amount at a studio when she was 2, yes, 2! i didn't know any better and got suckered into it by my friend...

then i found out about our local rec program. score! i paid something like $70/semester ($140 for the year) and another $35-$40 for the costume. at the previous place the costume was $90, i forget what the tuition was, but you can imagine...

DD#1 did the rec center program when she was 3 and 4 and loved it. i was going to enroll her again this year but she chose gymnastics instead and i don't want to over schedule since she is starting kindergarten and piano as well.

next year if DD#1 expresses interested to dance again i will probably look into other options, but for the little ones i found the cheaper the better. i will enroll DD#2 in the rec center next year

If it makes you feel better, I pay $95/month for 1 hour gymnastics. #1 is going up a level so it's $105 for 90 min

I pay $110 per month for 3 classes and they are 45 minutes each. Costumes are about $65 each and recital tickets are $20 each held at Queens College. Pictures are extra too, you don't have to buy them, but they run me about $130 for an 8x10, 5x7, and 4 wallets for each class and there's usually 2 poses per class.

My son is in a combo class once a week for an hour and it went up this year to $52. He's 5 now and this is his 3rd year. It goes up $3-5 a year. Luckily he hasn't had to buy a costume like the girls in class. They run about $80-90 and then of course the $25 per recital ticket.

$60 a month, once a week for 45 minutes. I think the recital costume is $125 but I am not sure. Then what ever the tickets are.

That definitely sounds steep. We pay max $50.

I have a dance school and I charge $416 for 45 minutes, $523 for an hour, and $618 for an hour and a half. My year runs from mid-September through May- roughly 30 classes. My costumes range from about $40-65, tickets were $17 last year. I am the cheapest place in our are, most places are almost double what I charge.

We had a super cheap dance school last year. It was $30/month for a 45 minute class. Emily took the combo class since it was her first year. We also had a recital free but that included the costume.

However the dance school was horrible. I was so happy when the year was over so that we could move on. The owner was completely unprofessional in her dealings with parents and I don't really feel that Emily learned all that much.

We looked into several schools this year, and the one we are going to is $46/month. However, after seeing how the summer session went this year, I think she is going to learn a LOT! So it will be well worth it IMO!

$94/month for a triplet class. 1.5 hours Ballet, Tap, Jazz.

Just spent almost $100 on 3 pairs of shoes too. UGH.
