how much do you pay your nanny?
we are looking to hire a nanny and don't know where to begin i live in NC, so the pay might be less, but i don't even know where to start. do you offer any other benefits, like insurance, etc?

I've only just begun looking but the woman I spoke with last week wanted $750-800/wk That's for NYC though. I would think it would be more reasonable in NC.
ETA: I don't plan to offer insurance because from what the agency said it doesnt sound like it's standard. I'm offering 5 weeks vacation only because that's what I get.

Just something to consider...you may not want to offer all your vacation to your nanny. I would think 3 weeks and then the other 2 can give you some leeway to have the day off but the nanny come so you can get some stuff done that you couldn't otherwise. You can always add days off but it's hard to take them back.

None of my NYC friends offer their nanny insurance.

Just something to consider...you may not want to offer all your vacation to your nanny. Our nanny gets $100 a day - we have her 2 days a week. She works full time for another family in our apt building - and they pay for her insurance.
