How much do you save a year?
Not including 401k, and other savings plans. Just saving for either a house or rainy day.

Not nearly enough. Right now we are making our bills. Only saving in retirement right now.
Hoping we can bring in more income soon.

We save about 4K a year in addition to our retirement savings. Not as much as I would like but I am a SAHM so living on 1 income and saving money isn't easy.

Outside of retirement savings, we save $100 per pay period into our savings account, so $2,600/yr.

We max out our 401ks and my DH's employee stock purchase plan. We aren't planning to buy a house any time soon (we rent in the city) so we generally invest whatever we have leftover each month. Somewhat recently we started putting $650/month into a separate ING direct savings account as a future house fund which doesn't accomplish all that much as we'd still need to sell a lot of investments for a future down payment, but I decided I wanted more in "cash"
Edit: once  is here, and we have daycare expenses in the mix, we're planning to save for college but will have to cut back a lot on other non-retirement savings/investments unless I get a big raise

I dont know how much it comes to a year but just for me, I try to save at least $200-400/month so I can have an 8 month emergency fund like Suze Orman suggests...Still working on it!!!

We save $400 per month out of our paychecks, plus we put away money from my bonus and tax return...

Not enough. DH and I were talking about this last night. We saved a lot of $ for the wedding and I don't even know how we did it. We're going to have to come up with a plan.

We're pretty good about saving but we save for big ticket items so by the end of the year we're usually left w/ nothing and we start the saving all over again.
At this time we're saving for a car and I know we'll be able to do it and after that it'll be saving for major home renovations. I'm sure after that there will be something else - perhaps a trip around the world.

DH and I save 10-20k per year apiece. We put money into 401k and college savings plan for which we can't tap into.
If we don't see the money in our sbank acccount, we'll less likely to use it. It has worked so far!

This is us as well. Although I try to save some of my paycheck each week, something always seems to come up, where I have to tap into that at some point.
Outside of my 401K and DS's savings account, we have savings that would probably get us through a few months if absolutely necessary.
I am hoping we get a decent tax return this year so I can pay off some stuff we had to put on the credit card recently, and then the rest is absolutely going into savings.
