How much do you tip food delivery guys?
I bought a sandwich for $7 and tipped the guy $1. I thought this was reasonable. I could see that he was disgruntled about this.
Do you tip based on a percentage?
I usually tip ~10% for delivery. Order $25 worth of pizza, give $3. Order $50, give $5.
I tip 20% at sit down restaurants where we get served.

I personally think that tipping is getting waaaaaaaaaaay out of hand so unless I'm getting an extensive service such as hair color/cut, mani/pedi or I'm at a restaurant for longer than an hour, I do not tip 18-20%.
My grocery delivery guys get $3-4, Chinese food/pizza delivery $2. If I go to a deli and get lunch, those guys are not getting a tip.

Not sure the rule of thumb for delivery but I always just thought it was the same as restaurants...I tip close to 20% and the minimum I tip is $3.

I usually tip at least 5 dollars.
If we order a lot maybe more - I don't necessarily go by what I order - they still have to deliver it the same distance.

I could never hand over just 1 dollar for whatever reason. For a 7.00 sandwich , I would tip 2 bucks. $5-6 dollars for pizza tip.

Re: How much do you tip food delivery guys?
Can't go by me because I've always been a big tipper. I know too many people in the service industry to not be generous.
Don't get me wrong, if the service sucks, I don't go crazy.
But most of the time, I encounter helpful people and I tip well.

This!! I feel bad. I probably would have given the guy $2-$3 but that is just me.

I feel like the thing with that is people in the service industry are making very little on an hourly basis and they rely on their tips. I feel like delivery people are making more on an hourly basis.

Re: How much do you tip food delivery guys?
I never tip less than $3 for delivery and less than $5 in a restaurant. If DH and I go to a diner for breakfast and the bill is $15-$20, I still leave $5. Tip jars I leave my change and one more dollar. I worked a lot of service jobs in my life and know how much the hourly is after taxes, so if the service is good, I tip generously. I don't order out enough for the tips to be a big deal to me.
