how much do you tip the mailman, garbage man..etc
so we are new to our neighborhood, we have been here, not even a year but want to make sure we take care of our garbage man and our mailman. also am i missing anyone else i should tip around this holiday season?
what does everyone usually give?

we give a $20-$25 gc to the mail man (usually amex or DD or starbucks)
and cash to the garbage men ($20)

I needed an option for BOTH!
Our mailman gets a DD giftcard for $15 (someone told me they can't accept cash - not sure if that's true or not) and our garbage men get cash - I think last year we gave $40 ($20 for each).

where is the "your are out of your mind if you think im tipping these ppl" option...??
sorry... and don't get me wrong. i tip, and tip well when its deserved... but just for simply putting mail in my box because its your job doesn't deserve a tip...
now if I'm running a business out of my house and the poor guy has to make 2 trips a day to deliver all my mail... thats a different story.
any my garbage men S*CK!!!! i have a few tips for them about how to do their job...

We live in a community and have community dumpsters so we dont tip the garbage men, and our mailman is a bit of a jerk and I agree with pp I'm not tipping you to do your job especially when do have to mail one pit stop to deliver mail to 12 people at one box. My parents used to give our old mailman a bottle of wine, he was a really nice guy.

This year I have a few Best Buy and Dunkin Donuts cards to give out

this is the first year in our house. we are not tipping our garbage men as they do a lousy job, but we will tip our mail carrier and newspaper delivery guy $20 each. honestly you do what you can afford and what you feel is right..

We pay for garbage service. It is one of those trucks that have the arm, so the guy does not even leave the truck.
We do not tip on mailman as we get very little mail - maybe 3-4 days a week he actually delivers stuff to us and 99.99% of the time it is junk mail as we do all bills online.

garbage men get 25 bucks each (there are 2)

We tip our garbage men $20 each (there's 3 of them). They are AWESOME, and take anything we put out there. We've done construction on our house and they've taken basically everything, so we don't mind tipping.
Our recycling people get nothing because they S U C K. If we leave 2 bins out they will only take 1 
Our mailperson gets nothing because we have a different one it seems like every week.

Garbage men-I tipped them last year, and didn't get a thank you, which annoyed me. They are also constantly leaving the trash cans in the middle of the driveway so I can't get out without moving them. I don't think I am going to tip them this year.

FedEx gets $50, I <3 my FedEx guy!
My garbage men get $20 but last year we were never able to catch them so they got nothing

Ditto for me down to the garbage men . The mail carriers drive from mailbox to mailbox.
This year I did however tip my UPS driver. She is amazing and doesn't just bring it to the door. She makes sure my kids don't see packages if they have pictures of the contents. I gave her a $25 gc to Macys.

We don't tip the garbage men. I never see them, they make a mess and they are actually picky with what they take at times!
The mailman, we'll probably give $20.
We don't get newspaper delivery.
