How much does the average 1 year old weigh?
I know it's a question that will come with a variety of answers....but I'm just curious.
I was talking to my friend the other day and her son just turned 1 and is weighing in at 30 pounds. Is that as huge as I think it is?

  yes, thats pretty big, how cute, i love chubsy babies.
my boys have always been 50%tile or less.
so at 3 and 4yrs old, theyre only like 33lbs or so. havent weighed them in a while.

That is a big kid. Andrew was 18 1/2 lbs at his 1yr visit.

BIIIIIIIIIGGG boy.....DD weighs 20 pounds and was in the 60th, so the average is probly b/t 19/20 pounds...

I agree...I believe if you ask a ped. they will say average is 20 lbs....and if you think about it, that makes sense, you turn their carseats around at 1 year AND 20 lbs. Many babies, especially those 8+ pounds at birth will weigh far over 20 (for a baby) at 1 because they are bigger to start with.

That's big boy.....Nate was a 10lb baby and we thought he was going to stay a big kid. Nate was about 26lbs when he was 1yrs old. He was 28lbs 12oz at his 2yr visit last month.

Thanks everyone!
I guess it makes sense....she has 3 kids and all of them are big boys. In fact, all of them were born bigger than my daughter is now at 6 weeks!

She was 6lbs 7oz at birth

It's a big boy, but nothing that flags me as outgrageous. Both my kiddies were always on the higher side of the charts, and were about 22-24 lbs at 1 year.
Wow, Andrew is the exact average height for a 3-year old (39 inches).

Not necessarily. Marron was 8lbs 1oz at birth and at her 12 month visit she was 19lbs. I do agree with the 20lbs making sense as an average wt for 1yr olds since that is when you can turn the car seats.
