We opened up a baby account using ING, so far it has been good. I love the fact that I can't easily withdraw $, so it is perfect for us.

We have been saving and putting $ in the account and doing pretty well.

I didn't answer the poll because there was no option for $0.

Oh, I think I answered wrong. Did you mean $ for the actual baby or $ to survive life with a baby? I answered the latter. We're waiting until the baby is born to set up an account for him or her.

I mean $ to survive life with a baby or for an emergency. For example, if you need to be out from work longer or want to be out from work longer, or if you are going down to part-time, etc...

A cushion so you don't have that stress of having to depend on your salary to survive for a little while.

We will set up an account in the baby's name once he or she arrives.

We have money in savings but it's not really for an emergency. It's more to get us through the time I'll be home without a paycheck.

A lot! Chat Icon
Lets put it this way, I have been banking my entire salary and all of DH's bonuses for 3 years. And we have zero debt (besides our mortgage)... so I am pretty comfortable with our nest egg.

In the babies own account, we have 0. We will start that after he is born.

We're very fortunate and save a lot of money so we are in a good place financially. I don't intend on being a stay at home mom as I run a company and very much enjoy it and my husband has a good job. We do have bills and some debt but we still manage to save and will do so specifically for baby once he is born.

LOL...my thoughts exactly. And I'm amazed (and jealous) of the number of people who will have over $20K in the bank.

We've been saving, saving, saving. And I am pretty comfortable with the amount in the bank should I need to stay home longer then originally anticipated.

I agree. I think that is wonderful. I wish that I had that amount of savings. I wish that I could say that we were comfortable now.
