How much of money would have to be offered to leave a job no questions asked?
DH has an opportunity to go to another company. I wont' get into the pros/cons but basically they want him to name the number that will get him to leave his current job. We have a number in mind but we are afraid of low/high balling it. I'm curious what all of you would say. Name your nunmber or percentage.

I would need like 100% more than I'm making now. I love my job A LOT! That's more important than money to me.

DH would be basically doing the same job just with a different company. There are a couple of reasons he is hesitant (but not huge reasons) which is why money is now the focus.

I'd ask for about $25K more than current salary.
I don't know why ... maybe because I came back to my company (in a different position) after being laid off, with a $20k pay CUT, so in my mind I want that back plus some!

I'd have to know more about the pros and cons...If it meant working every day/very little sick and vacation time, etc., no money would be worth it to me.
But if it was the same job exactly, I usually only make changes for at least 20% more and equal or better benefits.

It wouldn't be about money & the job itself.
It would be about the flexibility for me. Work from home, leaving early if necessary.

Personally-- the # is one thing... It's what the work/life balance will be like, the hours, days off, benefits.
I could make $250K/year and have none of the above-- it wouldn't be worth it.
As for what MY number would be-- well, it depends on my industry, years of experience, etc. I would have your DH research what is the most he could get for what his skills are, then maybe bump that up 5% to 10%.

Re: How much of money would have to be offered to leave a job no questions asked?
Thanks for the input! We are thinking of giving a bottom line of 30% which is about (maybe more) the raise he would get if he stayed in his new job and got promoted within the next 6 months (which is expected). So he would end up getting a raise now and still have potential to move up in the new company (which will be part of the negotiation). On top of that the benefits are better (they put 8% in 401K with him putting in a dollar!) and schedule would be the same (i.e., flexible). Although today the answer seems clear, tomorrow his current job could counter and we are undecided again for the 8th time this week! Hopefully this will all be resolved in the next couple weeks!
