How much room does your DC have from the end of their toes to the end of their shoes?

How much room does your DC have from the end of their toes to the end of their shoes?
DS got his first pair of walking shoes last week & I noticed yesterday that the toes are turning up! There is easily 1/2 - 3/4 of "space" from where his toes are and his shoe ends. This cannot be normal can it?

a LOT.
Its funny his shoes look HUGE on his feet but his feet are so wide upwards, that he needs the 4 wide, even though theres tons of toe room .

It is supposed to be the size of your thumb nail. Well, to be specific, the beginning of the nail bed to the tip of the finger.

Yes, DD just got her first pair of walking shoes(stride rites). When we got her measured the guy said about the length of your thumbnail rule.
She measured a 4 1/2 XW
Her shoes look so big on her.
The shoes are supposed to be big though.
