How much should a newborn eat?
I'm nursing so it's hard to know how much he's getting. Sometimes he'll eat for 20 min. but most times I feel like he eats for an hour or more. I'm going to star pumping too and I'm wondering how much I should give him in a bottle. How mnay ounces does your newborn eat?

Sophie is 12 days old and she's taking between 3 and 4 ounces at each feeding.

Re: How much should a newborn eat?
DS is a big eater - When he was first born, he was eating 2 oz every 2 hours or so.. it seemed to increase by an ounce every week
Now at 3 1/2 wks old he is eating 4-5 oz a feeding (usually 3 hours apart). My ped thinks he had his growth spurt 'early' since he was ravenous until we increased him to at least 4 oz. a feeding at 2 weeks old

Re: How much should a newborn eat?
I breastfeed my DS, and usualoly he will eat for 10-15 minutes on each side every 2-3 hours. Sometimes he want to nurse for half an hour on each side. Its totally normal for your baby to want to eat that much.
