How much to redo a Bathroom??
Rough estimate if anyone has done this and I mean to gut the entire thing and basically start over.
Thanks

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
It can vary greatly...
Are you changing the layout? To move plumbing is big $$$$.
What fixtures are you considering? Materials?... that can vary your cost greatly.
Do you want labor included?
I'd say basic bath average approx $7K. w/ labor. Some are more, some are less.
REmember always add at least 10-20% cushion for unforeseen problems. Bathrooms can have expensive hidden problems... leaky pipes in the wall, mold issues, etc.
Every little thing adds up so if you can keep your tile and fixtures on the quality side, yet not expensive... ie. stock, no special order... than it will save $$$$.
ETA: The retail price (WE got contractor's discount due to family connections) of one of our baths cost a lot less than $1K and our master would have been about $25-30K.
HTH... good luck

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
i know my sister just redid her bathroom. it's an average size, she completely redid everything but she designed it herself and went out and bought every tile, material (cabinet, vanity, light fixture, any and everything herself) and then got people in to do it all professionally. she got all her tiles (she did the floor in tile as well as floor to ceiling walls) for 50% off because she knew someone, and i know she got a deal with one or 2 of the workers too because they were friends of friends etc... so what i'm saying is she probably spent less than what it would have costed her had she not known people and i know she spent at least 7k.

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
Count about $5k-$10K for a remodeling. No moving of pipes, etc.. That would include, new tub, new tile (tub area, flooring), new toilet, new sink, etc...
Of course, it depends how expensive your tile is, faucets, etc...

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
We got an estimate to gut the bathroom and redo everything - but not moves pipes or change the layout - and it was for about $9000 (which included tiles, tub, sink, etc.). Now, that price could go up depending on what specific tiles, tub, vanity we chose for the bathroom.

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
Like everyone else said, it depends mostly on materials. We completely gutted our 7x7 bath. Labor was roughly $6800 and materials were roughly $6500 - $7k. Materials included: tile (for floor and tub/shower area only), porcelain tub, fixtures (faucet - sink & shower - lights), toilet, pedestal sink...hand towel holder, towel hooks, medicine cabinet...
Tub, sink & fixtures - Kohler. Toilet - Toto. All purchased from Blackman Plumbing.
This was in July 2006.

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
DH did all the work in our bathroom, so we did not have to pay anyone to refinish it. We completely gutted it, down to the studs. Put in a standing shower enclosure, new toilet, vanity and sink, tiled the floor and shower. It cost about $4,000-$5,000.

Re: How much to redo a Bathroom??
DH did our bathroom all himself. We moved everything (plumbing too) and took out a closet from the room next door to make our bathroom bigger. We spent 5K in materials labor was free for us
